On motion of Councilman <br /> McBride, s~conded by Dahl and carried, the Attorney was instructed to <br /> prepare an Ordinance, for presentation at the next meeting, providing <br /> for the reclassification of the property as recommended by the Plan- <br /> ning Commission. <br /> <br /> Communications were read from the P!~nning Commission recommending <br /> granting of variance to Harold E. and Florence M. Jolly to convert an <br /> existing unfl;~ished storage and recreation area above the 20I x 24I <br /> garage on property at 705 East Pine Street, into a small apartment, <br /> and from the Department of Public Works that replacement of all broke <br /> sidewalk at driveway a~'oroach is needed to brm,,~ i% up to present Cit <br /> standards. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lsa-sen and <br /> carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved <br /> and variance g~anted subject to the conditions as imposed by the <br /> Department of Public Works. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission reccr~nonding <br /> denial of variance application of Blair M. White to construct a single <br /> f~mily residence on the front of proplerty at 143~ Martha Lane. <br />Mr. White stated that the property is~ an exceptionally deep lot and <br />he would conform to the existing setback line. On motion of Council- <br />man Jerome, seconded by Lateen and ca~ried, the matter was continued <br />until the next meeting for investigation by the Council. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Plan~ing Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to Clayton E. and Nora'B. Harris to permit the construction <br />of an 8~ x 18~ addition to existln? garage on property at 1220 West <br />Eighth Street. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dada!, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Plamning Commission was approved and a variance <br />granted to Charles Linger and How~d Robertshaw to permit the con- <br /> <br /> struck!on of a building for the operation of a retsil ice cream store <br /> upon condition <br />at the northwest corner of West 17th and English Streets~/that at <br /> <br />least ten parking stalls be established, that the parking area be <br />blacktopped and that the sign for advertising purposes not exceed <br />thirty square feet in area. <br /> <br />Tentative Map of Tract No. 2547 on property located east of Haila~ay <br />and north of McFadden Streets and letter of George M. and Stanley B. <br />Sandstrom reference cost to be borne by the City for the improvements <br />on McFadden Street, were presented. On motion of Councilman Dahl, <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, the request was referred to the Manage <br />and Acting Director Of Public Works for recommendation. On motion <br />of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, Tentative Map of <br />Tract No. 2547 was approved without any commitments as to the cost to <br />be borne by the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
