RESOLUTION 70-91 OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 18-24, 1970 <br />AS A WEEK OF PRAYER FOR PEACE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the United Nations was formed in San Francisco <br />in 1945 and has provided the nations of earth the broadest forum for the <br />discussion of problems that affect world peace; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, our national leadership has continously supported <br />the United Nations and desires to establish a just peace throughout the <br />world; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, that even though the United Nations has not achieved <br />its goal, world peace, it would be tragic to do anything but pursue the <br />objective of a just peace belween nations and people while respecting each <br />nation's own sovereignty and each person's own dignity; <br /> <br />With these facts in mind we acknowledge that the ideals of a just peace and <br />concern for others come from God alone and without God's help it is <br />impossible to have a just peace; we acknowledge that it is God who has <br />given us the Bible which has been the blueprint for our nation's Constitution; <br />we acknowledge that it is God who has placed an infinite value on the <br />individual human life; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That we, the City Council <br />of the City of Santa Ana, as a reminder of our obligation first to God, then <br />our country, do hereby proclaim October 18-24, 1970 as: <br /> <br />"WEEK OF PRAYER FOR PEACE" <br /> <br />with the request that all of the people of Santa Ana join in prayer for our <br />leaders and representatives thai they may seek God's wisdom and st rength <br />in a task which is honorable and God ordained as stated in the Holy scripture, <br />"I exhort, therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions <br />and giving of thanks, be made for all men, for kings, and for all that are in <br />authority, thai we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and <br />honesty."
