Sycamore <br />btn Edinger and Pomona <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Larsen, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br /> recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br /> granted to Martin-Tancredi Construction Company to permit the construct- <br /> ion of a house with three bedrooms and 1~ baths at 2524 North Valencia <br /> Street. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br /> recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br /> granted to Ernest and Ruth B. Capp to permit use of property at 1612 <br /> East Palm' St~ee't for a guest home for five ambulatory guests. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br /> recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br /> granted to Larchmont Knolls, Inc., to permit constructibn of a single- <br /> family dwelling at 1308 Glenwood Place, reducing the rear yard setback <br /> requirements at one corner of the house to 12'. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending denial <br /> of variance application of George W. and Ruth Fain to permit construct~+ <br /> ion of an additional room onto existing house used as their home, at <br /> 1502 South Towner Street, and the operation of a barber shop therein. <br /> Frank Blake and twenty-one persons stood in protest. A petition was <br /> presented signed by forty-one persons protesting the granting of the <br /> variance and on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and <br /> carried, the petition was received and filed. George W. Fain stated <br /> that the establishment of a barber shop would not be detrimental to the <br /> neighborhood.and presented a petition signed by fourteen persons favors <br /> ing the granting of the variance. On motion of Councilman Dahl, <br /> seconded by Larsen and carried, the petition was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried., the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />denied. <br /> <br />Communication of the Planning Commission was read submitting Resolution <br />No. 707 recommending the reclassification of a 40.03 acre parcel of <br />property located on the south side of Dyer Road between Harbor Road <br />and Newport Boulevard, from the R-1 to the M-2 District, in accordance <br />with the amendment application of Genevieve DeSutter. On motion of <br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, a notice of public <br />hearing was ordered published setting date of hearing as November <br /> <br />15th, 1954. <br />CommUnication of the Planning Commission was road submitting Resolution <br />No. 708 recommending denial to reclassify the property on the east side <br />of South Sycamore Street between Edinger and Pomona Streets, consisting <br />of Lots 33 to 47 inclusive, Block A, Tract No. 531, from the R-2 to <br /> <br />C-2 District, in accordance with the amendment application of J.A. <br />Fitzgerald. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and <br />carried, a notice of public hearing was ordered published setting date <br />of hearing as November 15th, 1955. <br /> <br /> <br />
