RESOLUTION 71-2 OVERRULING THE DECISION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND GRANTING A VARIANCE ON VARIANCE APPLICATION 70-63 FILED BY LORRAINE B. ELAM, SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE CONDITIONS WHEREAS, after public hearing on notice, the Planning Commission denied a variance on Variance Application 70-63 filed by LORRAINE B. ELAM requesting the utilization of the rear 100 feet of property for an auto wrecking yard in the R-1 District at 5106 West Hazard Avenue, Santa Ana, California; and WHEREAS, Appeal Application No. 250 was duly filed by the applicant appealing the decision of the Planning Commission to deny said Variance and p~esenting the matter to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council, after public hearing on notice, has determined that said Variance Application meets the requirements of Section 41-638 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code and that said Variance is granted subject to certain applicable conditions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby overrules the decision of the Planning Commission and does hereby grant a variance on Variance Application 70-63, filed by LORRAINE B. ELAM, to permit the establishment of an automobile wrecking yard on a lot in the R-1 District at 5107 West Hazard Avenue, Santa Ana, California; said Variance is granted subject to the following conditions: 1. That said Variance is granted for a period of one year; 2. That the front portion of the property is to be landscaped; That a driveway is to be constructed of gravel from the front property line to the existing garage and to the wrecking yard at the rear; 4. That the 5-foot chain link fence surrounding the wrecking yard be provided with opaque screening.
