RESOLUTION 71-37 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING TIt~ CONCEPT OF FAIR <br />HOUSING AND SETTING FORTH THE INTENTION OF SAID <br />COUNCIL TO EMPLOY ALL LAWFUL MEANS WITHIN ITS <br />POWER TO ENFORCE THE FAIR HOUSING LAWS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, fair and equal access to housing is a right <br />guaranteed to all citizens by law and conscience; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the exercise of the right to obtain housing <br />without discrimination by race, creed, color, or national origin <br />is fundamental to the exercise of other rights to which all <br />citizens are entitled; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all citizens have a duty to support and assist <br />in the enforcement of all laws including those particularly <br />directed toward Fair Housing; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has the duty to inform the <br />public of the laws and all levels of government are sworn to <br />uphold and enforce all laws; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> <br />1. That the City of Santa Ana is a city committed to the concept <br /> of Fair Housing; and <br /> <br />2. That all citizens are urged to obey the spirit and letter <br /> of the laws relating to Fair Housing; <br /> <br />3. That by work and deed, the City of Santa Ana should be a model <br /> for Fair Housing; <br /> <br />4. That the City of Santa Ana will employ all lawful means within <br /> its power to enforce the Fair Housing laws; and <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />That the City of Santa Ana endorses the proclamation of <br /> April 19th through 25th as Fair Housing Week, expressing <br /> itsv~lcome to all residents as shareholders in common with <br /> the interest in making Santa Ana a good place to live. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of <br />Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of April, 1971. <br /> <br /> MAYOR <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFOP~NIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, FLORENCE I.
