<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl' and carried, the
<br /> written recommendation of the Maria,'er, dated January lath, 19gg,
<br /> setting forth salary step increases for one employee effective October
<br /> 1st, 195h and two employees effective February 1st, 1955, Was received,
<br /> filed and approved.
<br />
<br />Communications were read from Rar~kln's, ~17 W. 4th Street, Hugh J.
<br />Lowe, 109 W. 4th Street and Williamson, Henshaw and Duque, Agents of
<br />Allan G. Grey et al, Otis Building, requesting withdrawal of their
<br />petitions for the establishment of Vehicle Parking District No. 2, and
<br />on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the
<br />communications were received and filed. On motion of Councilman
<br />
<br />Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the petitions having been with-
<br />drawn and it being reported that the number of signers reduces the
<br />petitions below 20~, the action previously taken by the Council wa~
<br />rescinded, est~bllshing the need of Vehicle Parking District No. 2,
<br />on the south side of W. 5th Street between Sycamore and Broadway and
<br />the employment of an Engineer.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Larsen, seconded by Dahl and carried, John W.
<br />Hernlund was appointed to serVe as a member of the Planning Commission
<br />to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Geo. E. Faires; te~m
<br />to ex~ire July 1st, 1957.
<br />
<br />The Manager recommended that a two-hour parking zone be established on
<br />the south side of Walnut Street between Cypress and Orange Avenues,
<br />reference the request of Dr. W.F.Kistin~er. The Council having
<br />unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Council-
<br />man Larsen, seconded by Dahl and carried, the following Resolution
<br />
<br />entitled:
<br />
<br />"Resolution No. 55-19 concerning limited or
<br />no parking signs"
<br />
<br />establishing a two-hour parking zone on the south side of Yalnut
<br />
<br />Street between Cypress and Orange Avenues, was considered and passed
<br />
<br />by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> Ayes, Councilmen William Jerome, J.L.McBride, Thomas F.Larsen,
<br /> Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler
<br /> Noes, Councilmen None
<br /> Absent, Councilmen None

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the re.~ding of the Resolution,
<br />on motion of Councilman Larsen, seconded by Dahl and. carried, the fol-.
<br />
<br />lowing Resolution entitled:

<br />"Resolution No. 55-20 concerning parking limitations
<br />and curb markings in accordance therewith"
<br />
<br />establishing "No Parking" on the south side of Tenth Street
<br />
<br />between Bush and French Streets, was considered an8 pa~sed by the fol-
