Six persons stood in protest. Glenn Bailey stated the proposed business would be detri- <br />mental to the property owners in the ares. Robert Shaller, Vice- <br />President of the Msrotta Corporation said dust rslsed by the operatic: <br />of the ready-mix plant would be detriment~,l to the equipment in their <br />manufacturing plant. Va. rious nearby property owners objected to the <br />proposed plant due to the dust and dirt and the incre~c of traffic <br />on Standard Avenue. Attorney Thomas Brown, on behalf of the applic~ht, <br />stated that the safety of thc residents in the neighbor~ ~.~<~ ~mIob~ld not <br />be jeopardized due to the operation of the trucks. On 'motion of <br />Ccur_oilman Jerome, seconded by D~hl and carried, the recommendation <br /> <br /> of the Planning Commission was approved and variance denied. <br /> # <br /> <br />Communication of the Planning Commission was read submitting ResolutiOn <br />No.739 recommending the reclassification of all of the land south of <br />l?th Street end north.Of a line 175 feet south of the center line of <br />17th Street, from a line ~05.60 feet west of the west line of College <br />Avenue to English Street and north of a line 190 feet south of the <br />center line of 17th Street from the west line of English Street to <br />the westerly City Limits; also, all of the land south of a line 160 <br />feet north of the center line of 17th Street from a line 508.63 feet <br />east of the e~st line of Aloha Street to the e~st line of English <br />Street, and Lots l, 2 and 3, in Tract No. 1478, from the R-2 District <br />to the C-1 District, in accord~nco with Commission initiated amendmenl~. <br />0n motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and carried, a notice <br /> <br />of public hearing was ordered published setting date of hearing ss <br />February 21st, 1955. <br /> <br /> <br />
