Spargo <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Larsen, seconded by Jerome and carried, <br />that action be deferred until the next regular meeting on variance <br />application of Arthur M. Blanding to use the property at 1316 South <br />Sycamore Street for the purpose of growing palms and bird of paradise <br />in the ground, and Mr. Elanding requested to attend. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br />~eoommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to Josephine Bevan to permit the use of a 53' lot situated <br />on the north side of Normandy Place, beginning at a point approx- <br /> <br /> imately 1751 east o£ Orange Avenue, described as Lot 13, Block B, <br /> on each side. <br />Tract No.226, for construction of a duplex, with three rooms and bath_/ <br /> <br />Communications were read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />granting of variance to Mrs. May Sayers to use the property at 302 <br /> <br />East Pomona Street for construction of a single-family dwelling <br />attached to the garage at rear of lot, the proposed dwelling to face <br />on Orange Avenue, a~d from the Department of Public Works that <br />replacement of all broken sidewalks on both Pomona and Orange &venues, <br />is needed. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and <br />carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission w~s approved <br />and variance granted subject to the conditions of the Department of <br />Public Works. <br /> <br />W. B. Stewart, representing the Civitan Club, requested permission ~o <br />use a parking space at the northeast corner of Fourth and Main Streets, <br />for four Saturdays, beginning April 23rd, for the purpose of selling <br />tickets to the First Annual Sportsmen's Show, from 10:00 A.M. to <br /> <br />4:00 P.M. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and <br />carried, the request was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to Helene Nelson to permit use of property at 119, 121, and <br />125 E. Eleventh Street, for a mail order business of phonograph <br /> <br />records, subject to the conditions as imposed by the Commission. <br />. <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />denial Of variance of stanley A. Griswold for permission to use the <br />property at the southwest corner of King and 14th Streets for con- <br />st~uction of a duplex, the entran*e to face 14th Street. The Council <br />having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion <br />of Councilman Larsen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the following <br />Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution 'No. 55-74 granting Variance on <br /> application of Stanley A. Griswold where <br /> Planning Commission recommended denial" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by t~he following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Councilmen William Jerome, J.L.McBride, Thomas F.Larsen <br /> Noes, Councilmen Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br />Communications were read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />granting of variance to Elmer 0. Spargo to permit the use of property <br />at 1414 Durant Street, for construction of a duplex, three rooms and <br />bath on each side, on the rear half of lot, setting aside an area <br /> <br /> <br />
