RESOLUTION NO. 72-36 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA URGING THE LEAGUEOF CALIFORNIA <br />CITIES AND THE COUNTY SUPERVISORS'ASSOCIATION <br />OF CALIFORNIA TO-MODIF%~Ii4~ RULESES~ABLISHE~ <br />BY PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION CASE NO. 8209 <br />FOR UNDERGROUNDING EXISTING UTILITY LINES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Califormia Publi~Utilities Commission by Case No. 8209 <br />has established the rules amd regulations for the conversion of existing <br />overhead distribution facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these rules and regulations now require local government <br />to become directly involved in the conversion of the customer's service; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this involvement with the customer's service is inefficient, <br />cumbersome and results in an undue and needless burden being placed on <br />local government; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is felt that the utility companies should be better <br />equipped and staffed than a public agency to work with their own customers. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City <br />of Santa Aha urges both the League of California Cities and the County <br />Supervisors' Association to support a change in the existing rules and <br />regulations for the conversion of the customer's service that would allow <br />such conversion costs to be paid from funds set aside under the 8209 <br />program; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council is hereby <br />directed to send copies of this resolution to the League ef California Cities, <br />the County Supervisors' Association of California, and all of the cities <br />in Orange County. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Smnta Aha at <br />its regular meeting on the ~rd day of April, 1972. <br /> <br /> <br />
