CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />CLERK <br /> <br />pEFINITION <br /> <br />Under supervision, performs general clerical work of average difficulty <br />and such other related duties as may be required. <br /> <br />.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Assists the public by referring them to sources of information, giving <br />out standard forms and explaining how to complete them, and answering <br />requests for factual information by consulting various available sources. <br />Sorts and files papers, bills, receipts, blueprints, and a variety of <br />documents. Inserts and extracts material from subject matter files, <br />classifies material by nature of subject matter, and prepares new file <br />folders as needed. Posts data, keeps records, and prepares statistical <br />or other types of reports in accordance with predetermined forms ~d <br />procedures. May perform a limited amount of typing of labels, cards, <br />and lists. Performs related duties as required. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS <br /> <br />An employee assigned to this class performs routine clerical work following <br />prescribed or well established procedures. Assignments may involve the <br />use of some independent 3udgement although subject to review or verification <br />upon completion. This work involves no supervisory responsibility over <br />other clerical employees. <br /> <br />MINIMUM BASIC QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Graduation from High School or attainment of satisfactory GED test scores. <br />Some typing capability desirable. Successful completion of High School <br />level courses in English, Math, Office Procedures, and typing may substitute <br />for the education requirement. <br /> <br />DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND %BILITI.ES <br /> <br /> Ability to follow oral and written instructions; knowledge of modern office <br /> practices and procedures including filing; ability to make simple <br /> computations and listings with speed and accuracy and learn .quickly the <br /> specific office operations~ ability to deal tactfully and efficiently <br /> . p ~. tine matt ers. <br /> <br />CLERK OF Tile LG ', LIL <br /> <br /> <br />
