Council Chamber <br />Santa Ana City Hall <br />August l, 1955. 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br />Meeting called to order by .the Mayor. <br /> <br />Present: <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmen <br />Councilmen <br /> <br />Dale H. Heinly, J. Ogden Markel, William Jerome, <br />Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler <br />None <br /> <br />Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes <br />of July 18$h, 1955, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and <br />approved on motion of Councilman Heinly, sBconded by Markel and carried. <br /> <br />In Re <br />Presentation <br />Special plaque <br />citation for <br />pedestrian traffic <br />safety during 195~ <br /> <br /> In Re <br /> Hearing <br />"Fregway Annex" <br />Ordinance declaring <br />iAnnexation <br /> <br />Mr. Joseph E. Havenner, Manager of the Safety Department of the Auto- <br />mobile Club of Southern California officially presented a special <br />plaque citation for pedestrian traffic safety during 1954. The plaque <br />was accepted with thanks by the Mayor on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />This being the'date set for hearing protests on annexation to the City <br />of certain uninhabited territory designated "Freeway Annex" and there <br />being no protests, on motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel <br /> <br />and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br />"Ordinance declaring the annexation of that <br />certain territory designated 'Freeway Annex~" <br /> <br />In Re <br />Budget Appropriation <br />Ordinance. No. NS-119 <br />Year 1955-56 <br /> <br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br />. <br />This being the date set for hearing protests on the 1955-56 Budget~aud <br /> <br />there being no p~ot~sts, it was moved by Councilman Dahl, seconded by <br /> <br />Heinly and carried,that the reading of the Appropriation Ordinance, as <br /> <br />corrected, be waived and the Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br />In Re <br />Hearing <br />Amend. Section 9107.10 <br />Subdivision (b) of <br />Municipal Code <br />(insurance brokers otc) <br />Ordinance <br /> <br /> "An Ordinance adopting the annual B~dge~ for the <br /> fiscal year commencing July 1, 1955 and fixing <br /> the limitations of expenditures for the several <br /> funds and the funCtions,Departments and activities <br /> carried on under such funds" <br /> as an emergenqy Ordinance, <br />was designated Ordinance No. NS-ll9 and adopted_/by the following vgte: <br /> <br />Ayes, CounCilmen <br /> <br />Noes, Councilmen <br />Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />This being the <br /> <br />Dale H. Chandler <br />None <br />None <br /> <br />date set for hearing protests relative to amending the <br /> <br />Official Land-Use Districting Plan by amending Section 9107.10, Subdiv- <br /> <br />ision (b) of the Municipal Code to include "insurance brokers, agents <br /> <br />and salesmen", and there being no protests; on mo~ion of Councilman <br /> <br />Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Ordinance entitle <br /> <br />"Ordinance amending Section 9107.10 of the San~a Ana <br />Municipal Code to a/low real estate and insurance <br />offices in the tp, Zone" <br /> <br />In Re <br />Hearing <br />Abandon alley between <br />1st and 2nd Streets <br />west of Lacy St. <br />(Ray McCoy) <br /> <br />was introdMced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />This being She continued hearing on the abandonment and closing of an <br />alley between First and Second Streets west of Lacy Street, a letter of <br />explanation was read from Attorneys Elliott and Murray. On motion of <br />Councilman Jerome, seconded by Heinly and carried, the communication wa <br /> <br />received and filed. It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by <br /> <br />Markel and carried,that ~he hearing be continued until the next regular <br /> <br />meeting in order that the Attorneys, on behalf of Ray McCoy may present <br /> <br />a satisfactory solution to the abandonment of the alley which will be <br /> <br />agreeable ~o the property owners. <br /> <br />[: <br /> <br /> <br />
