RESOLUTION NO. 73-66 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA APPROVING APPLICATION FOR GRANT <br />DISCRETIONARY FUNDS TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF <br />JUSTICE TO CREATE A JUVENILE DELIQUENCY PRE- <br />VENTION AND ENFORCEMENT UNIT, AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />TO SIGN AND DELIVER THE APPLICATION. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana an Application for Grant Discretionary Funds to <br />the U.S. Department of Justice, Law Enforcement Assistance Admin- <br />istration (LEAA), on a proposed project to create a Juvenile De- <br />linquency Prevention and Enforcement Unit which will reduce, <br />repress, and prevent crimes involving juveniles, control the <br />criminal activities of youth gangs, increase apprehension of <br />juvenile offenders, increase relationships between school offi- <br />cials, parents, and the police, discourage youths from joining <br />and participating in gang activities, and combine the efforts of <br />the Santa Ana Police Department and Juvenile Probation. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears proper and to the best interests of the <br />county that said application for a grant be filed; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Chief of Police of the City of Santa Ana be, <br />and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute subject ap- <br />plication. <br /> <br /> 2. That the Chief of Police of the City of Santa Ana be, <br />and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit subject ap- <br />plication to the U.S. Department of Justice, Law Enforcement <br />Assistance Administration (LEAA), for approval. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City <br />of Santa Ana at its adjourned regular meeting held on the <br /> 25 day of 3une , 1973. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />
