3/88 DUE TO ~OR CONDITION ORIGINAL DESTROYED. <br /> <br />CiTY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />REPROGRAPHIC SERVICES LEADMAN <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under general supervision, supervises and parflicipates in the operation of offset <br />println8 and other duplicating shop equipment; supervises central mail and messenger <br />services; and performs other related duties as required. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Operates'and supervises the operation of offset printing presses, photocopy, and <br />other duplicating equipment used in producing a considerable volume and variety of <br />printed materials; operates or supervises the operation of auxiliary equipment, such <br />as collators, folders, staplers, and paper punching, cutting, and perforating machines; <br />operates copy camera and develops and prepares photographic negatives for offset press <br />platemaking; burns and develops plates; advises and assists departments regarding lay- <br />out~ size, color, paper stock, type, and method of reproduction of material to be <br />published; estimates cost and completion time for large Job orders; establishes prior- <br />ities and deadlines, schedules and assigns work, and adjusts work procedures to meet <br />special production schedules; instructs assigned personnel in the operation of various <br />machines and in the work and procedures of the section; supervises and coordinates the <br />work of employees engaged in mail distribution, messenger service, and related activi- <br />ties; observes and enforces safety rules and regulations; maintains, adjusts and makes <br />minor repairs to all machines and equipment; keeps stock usage and production records; <br />orders materials and suplies to maintain adequate inventory levels. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS <br /> <br />Thi~ is skilled and 'supervisory work in the operation of offset printing and related <br />duplicating and bindery equipment used in providing central duplicating service for <br />all city departments. Work involves responsiblity for the'accurate and efficient <br />operation and maintenances various duplicating shop equipment determining methods <br />of reproduction, and making decisions on priority of work. Duties also include <br />supervision of messenger and mail services. Ail work is under the general supervision <br />of an administrative superior and is reviewed by results achieved as well as economy <br />of materials and efficiency of operations. <br /> <br />MIN124UM BASIC QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or vocat$onal <br />'school and considerable experience in the operation and maintenance of offset printing <br />and related equipment; or any equivalent combination of experience and training offering <br />specific and substantta% preparation for the duties of tile position, <br /> <br />DESIRABLE..KNOWLEDGE~ SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />Thorough knowledge of the uses, operation and mainf~nance of offset printing and re- <br />lated equipment, including collating, inserting, folding and ~ind~ry machines; consid- <br />erable knowledge of the papers, inks, and other supplies used in reprographic processes, <br />including weights, type~ and uses of paper; ability to plan and schedule work; ability <br />to follow detailed oral and written instructions; ability to keep routine reccrds and <br />to prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships <br />with employees and others contacted in the course of work. <br /> <br /> <br />
