In addition to the Golden city LooP, numerous shorter <br />circuits are created by utilizing segments of various routes. <br />From any point in the City a bicyclist will be able to under- <br />take a non-repetitive route of virtually any length desired. <br /> <br /> Commuter use is considered an absolutely essential ele- <br />ment of the Bike Route Plan. As a result the major education- <br />al, employment, shopping, public service, and other activity <br />areas are integral to the Plan and the Bike Routes facilitate <br />access to these centers from all residential areas of the <br />city. In addition, major areas adjacent to the City are <br />accommodated and routes have been designed to aid bicyclists <br />in inter-City commuting. <br /> <br /> Public and private educational institutions of elemen- <br />tary, secondary and tertiary levels have been integrated <br />into the plan as centers representing major commuter activity. <br /> <br /> The routes have been delineated to serve directly such <br />regional centers as South Coast village and Plaza, Honer <br />Plaza, Fashion Square, Town and Country Center, the civic <br />Center, the Central City area and Santa Ana College. <br /> <br /> For inter-City commuters the east-west routes and the <br />Civic Center and river routes in particular serve central <br />Santa Ana and industrial areas to the east, <br />Irvine. <br /> <br />southwest and in <br /> <br /> The Bike Paths will be landscaped so as to <br />provide an aesthetically pleasant environment for <br />safe, leisurely bicycling.
