Council met in regular session. <br /> <br />~eeting called to order by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Present: Councilmen <br /> <br />Absent: Councilmen <br /> <br />Dale H. Heinly, J. Ogden Narkel, William Jerome, <br />Milford W. D~bl, Courtney R. Chandler <br />None <br /> <br />Each member of the City Council havin~ received cop~es of the Minutes of <br />January 16th, 1956, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved <br />on motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried. <br /> <br />In Re This being the date set for hearing and no protests having been received, the amend- <br />Hearing <br />Cherry Rivet Division <br />of the Townsend Co. <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />ment application of Cherry Rivet Division of the Townsend Company was considered for <br />the reclassification of property at 1224 East Delhi Road, from the R-1 District to <br /> <br />the M-1 District. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, <br /> <br />the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br />"Ordinance amending Article IX of the Santa Ana ~tu~icipal Code <br /> creating changes in district boundaries and adding Sheet No. <br /> 60 to the Districting Map to show the reclassification" <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bid acceptance <br />Appr6xfmstely 3570 <br />tShs plant mix <br /> <br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />The Manager reported that one bid was received for the furnishing of approximately <br /> <br />3570 tons plant mix street surfacing and recommended that the bid be awarded to <br /> <br />Sully-Miller Contracting Company, as follows: <br /> <br />Item 1: $3~99 per ton <br />Item 2: 4.99 " " <br />Item 3: 3.99 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation of <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bid acceptance <br />Water pipe and <br />fittings <br /> <br />the Manager was approved and the bid awarded to Sully-Miller Contracting Company. <br /> <br />A tabulation of bids was presented by the M~nager for the furnishing of water pipe <br /> <br />and fittings, in accordance with Specification No. 481-6, as follows: <br /> <br />Southern Pipe & Casing Company: <br />Item l: $ 6,~80.70 <br />Item 2: 9,745.50 <br />Item 3: 14,679.00 <br />Item 4: ~ <br />Total $ 10% bid bond. <br /> <br />United Concrete Pipe <br />Item 1: $ 7,499.50 <br />Item 2: 12,949.50 <br />Item 3: 17,482.50 <br />Item 4: ~ <br />Total $ 53, U69.~O <br /> <br />Corporation: <br /> Pro~o~ to furnish 14" pipe in place of 12". It <br /> is anticipated with an early award delivery of the <br /> pipe could begin June llth and be completed June <br /> ~2, 1956. <br /> lO~ bid bond. <br /> <br />American Pipe and Construction Co.: <br />Item 1: $ 7,513.65 <br />Item 2: ll,lO7.20 <br />Item 3: 16, 3~8.50 <br />Item 4: l~.106.40 <br />Total $ ~ 10~ bid bond. <br />Above prices are based on deliveries commencing on or about June 1, 1956 with complet <br />delivery by June 15, 1956. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman D~bl, seconded by Jeronm <br /> <br />and carried, the bid of Southern Pipe & Casing Company, in the sum of $43~692.56 was <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bids <br />Widening North Main <br />Street from 5th to 6th <br /> <br />accepted and the other bids rejected. <br /> <br />The Manager reported that no bids were received ;~or the widening, resurfacing and <br /> <br />reconstruction of curb, gutter~ and culverts on the east side of North Main Street, <br /> <br />from Fifth to Sixth Streets, and estimated the work to cost about $5,600.00 and <br /> <br />recommended that the City be authorized to do the work by force account. On recom- <br /> <br />mendation of the R~anager and on motion of Councilman Heinly~ seconded by Dahl and <br /> <br />D <br /> <br />carried, the Department of Public Works was authorized to do the work by force accouJ ;. <br /> <br /> <br />
