Environmental Impact Reports sh~ll contain <br />the information outlined in this article. <br /> <br />Description of Project. The description of th(: pro- <br />Ject shall contain the following information but s'hould <br />not supply extensive detail beyond that needed for eval- <br />uation and review of the environmental impact. <br /> <br />(a) The precis6 location and boundaries of the Froposed <br /> <br /> project shall be shown on a detailed map, prefer- <br /> ably topographic. The location of the project <br /> shall also appear on a regional map. <br /> <br />(b)A statement of the objectives sought by <br /> <br /> project. <br /> <br />(c) A general description of the project's technical, <br /> economic, and environmental characteristics, con- <br /> sidering the principal engineering proposals and <br /> supporting public service facilities. <br /> <br />Description of Environmental Setting. An EIR must in- <br />clude a description of the environment in thE. vicinity <br />of the prpject as it exists before commencement of the <br />prdject, fron)~oth a local a..nd regional perspective. <br />Knowledge of the regional settiog is critical to the <br />assessment o~ environmental impacts. Special emphasis <br />should be placed on environmental resources th~:t are <br />rare or unique to that region.
