RESOLUTION NO. 74-21 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA GIVING SUPPORT TO THE TRANSPORTA- <br />TION CORRIDOR PLAN T2E, AS MODIFIED <br /> <br />WHEREAS, intra-County and inter-County Transportation Corridors <br />as presently being studied and proposed by the Orange County <br />Transit District will have a profound effect upon the Transpor- <br />tation Plan for all of Orange County and its cities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, VTN/Voorhees, Transportation Planning Engineers, and <br />the staff of the Orange County Transit District have jointly <br />recommended that Plan T2E, as modified, be chosen; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all persons within Orange County should have convenient <br />access to the various centers of government and business in <br />Southern California through a rapid and efficient transportation <br />network; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the most efficient transportation plan for connecting <br />various cities within and without Orange County should include <br />a primary system which would pass through the Orange County <br />Civic Center and run from the beach to the north County border; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Transportation Corridor Plan T2E, modified, provides <br />access to the County's high density population areas, and most <br />effectively serves the bulk of the poor, aged and young persons <br />in the greatest need of transit service; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Plan would also provide the greatest service to <br />the employment centers of Orange County for the daily commuter <br />passenger; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Plan has been found by the Orange County Transit <br />District staff to be the most economical of the four proposed <br />plans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Civic Center is the center of Orange <br />County government, and a major governmental center for the State <br />of California and United States federal governments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has deep <br />interest in all matters which relate to transportation within <br />the County of Orange, and all of Southern California; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Santa <br />Ana gives its support to the Transportation Corridor Plan T2B, <br />as modified, by the Orange County Transit District staff, and <br />VTN/Voorhees, Transportation Planning Engineers, and directs <br />that this Resolution be sent to all cities in Orange County <br />with a request that they support Plan T2E, as modified, and <br />shown on Exhibit "A", attached. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />at a Special Meeting held on the 16th day of Pebruary, 1974. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />
