RESOLUTION NO. 74-26 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ACCEPTING A GRANT OF AN OPEN SPACE <br />EASEMENT FROM THE CITY OF GARDEN GROVE PURSUANT <br />TO SECTION 51055 OF THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT <br />CODE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana and the City of Garden <br />Grove are prepared to enter into an agreement concerning <br />that certain property within Santa Ana known as the Willo- <br />wick Golf Course, three {3) parcels adjacent to the golf <br />course which Santa Ana wishes to acquire and develop for <br />park and recreational purposes, and other related matters; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Garden Grove, as part of the aforementioned <br />agreement, offers to qrant to Santa Ana an open space ease- <br />ment for a term of twenty-five (25) years over the Willowick <br />Golf Course; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the preservation of the open space character <br />of the Willowick Golf Course, when combined with the deve- <br />lopment of the three [3) parcels to be acquired by Santa <br />Ana together with adjacent parcels already owned by Santa <br />Ana into a public park, will promote the public interest <br />in scenic and recreational open space; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Santa <br />Ana has determined that the acquisition of an open space ease- <br />ment over the golf course and of title to the three <br />adjacent parcels for park and recreational development are <br />in conformity with the City's general plan, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council <br />finds as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. The preservation of the Willowick Golf Course as <br />open space and the acquisition of three (3) adjacent par-, <br />cels for development and use for park and recreational pur- <br />poses are consistent with the general plan of the City of <br />Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> 2. The preservation of the Willowick Golf Course as <br />open space and development and use of the adjacent parcels <br />for park and recreational purposes are important to the <br />public for enjoyment of scenic beauty, in that: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />the land is unimproved except as park and golf <br />course property and has scenic value as viewed <br />from public highways and from public and private <br />buildings, and <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />the retention of the land as open space will <br />to the amenities of living in adjoining and <br />neighboring urbanized areas, and <br /> <br />add <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />the public interest will be served by maintaining <br />recreational and park uses in that portion of <br />the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> <br />
