I~al I granted to <br /> permit the use of rear half of lot at 317 South Sycamore Street for parking lot in <br /> connection with restaurant and cocktail bar adjoining on the east, in addition to <br /> the apartment house on front of the lot. <br /> <br />On motion of CouncR]m~ D~h], seconded by Markel and carried, the rec~mnendation of <br />the Pl~n~ing Cnmm~ssion was approved and the variance of Godbey and Sons granted to <br />permit the erection and maintenance of one temporary advertising sign, for a period <br />of one year, on property located at the southwest corner of Bristol and Edinger <br />Streets, subject to certain conditions. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Dahl and carried, the recommendation of <br />the Planning Cnmmission was approved and the variance of Francis Lee Perkins grante. <br />to permit construction of a modern concrete block building on property at 210 South <br />Broadway, deleting the side yard requirements, the proposed building to be used for <br />beauty salon and professional office, and other uses permitted in the "P" District, <br />subject to certain conditions. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that a variance <br /> <br />be granted to David Jac~m-n to permit the use of property at 1139 West Third Street <br />for construction of a one-bedroom duplex, overall dimensions 40' x 25', on front <br />of said property, facing Third Street, in addition to existing dwelling on rear of <br />lot, subject to certain conditions. On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by <br />Markel and carried, the matter w~s continued until the next meeting and the applics ~t <br />to be advised of the deficiency in parking space for the duplex. <br /> <br />Co~nunication was read from the Planning Comm~ ssion recc~mending denial of variance <br />application of G. Howard Robertshaw to permit construction of building at 2002 <br />South Woodland Avenue to be used for retail ice cream store, with customer counter <br />inside and drive-up window for direct service to automobile patrons, parking space <br />for five cars, driveways, sign, etc. Allen Alcott, 1906 Woodland Avenue, repre~ <br />senting a group of protestants, objected to the granting of the variance and s~atedll <br />the a~ea ~should remain residential and the type of business proposed would be a <br />definite health menace. The applicant spoke in favor of the variance and presente <br />maps of the area showing various established businesses. Two persons spoke in <br />favor of the variance. It was moved by Councilman Reinly and seconded by Dahl, <br />that a Besolution be adopted disapproving the recn-~mendation of the Con~ission and <br />granting the variance as applied for according to plot plan providing for five <br />parking spaces and to certain other conditions. <br /> <br /> Councilmen Dale H. Chandler <br /> Councilmen William Jerome <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Dahl and seconded by Markel, that the recommendation of <br />the PI e-uing Commission be approved and the variance denied. Not voted on. A <br />substitute ~otiOn was made by Counc~!~an Heinly, seconded by Dahl and carried, that <br />the matter be tabled until the next meeting with a i%,1 ] Council in session. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman I~bl, seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation of <br />the Planning C~ssion was approved and the variance of Evan A. Johnson for per- <br />mission to use existing building on property at 813 North Flower Street, for a <br />Chiropractor's office, due to the inadequate parking space, was denied. <br /> <br /> <br />
