<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Ordinance, on motion of

<br />Councilman Oahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Ordinance entitledt

<br />"Ordinknce No. NS-185 declaring the annexation of that certain territory
<br />designated 'Bullock's Annex'"
<br />
<br />Was considered and passed by the following vote:

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the proposed Ordinan(
<br />
<br />regulate the relocation of buildings in the City of Santa Aha, was tabled.

<br />On motion of Councilman D~hl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Mayor was authoriz.
<br />
<br />to sign a Cost Service Contract with the State Personnel Board for the performance o
<br />
<br />services incident to the preparation, construction rating of examinations for classi-
<br />
<br />fications, during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1957.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried~ the Mayor and Clerk
<br />
<br />were authorized to sign the amendment of May 9, 1956 to Agreement of Sale and Put-
<br />
<br />chase dated February 28, 1951, as recommended by the Joint 0utfall Sewer ExecutiVe
<br />
<br />Committee and authorized by the Boards of Directors of County Sanitation ~istricts
<br />Nos. l, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and ll.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Santa Ana Unit
<br />#131 American Legion Auxiliary were granted permission to sell poppies, May 25th and
<br />26th.
<br />
<br />On. motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the invitation of the
<br />
<br />Northeast Little League to attend the dedication ceremonies and opening game of the
<br />
<br />season, Sunday, May 20th, was filed and ordered acknowledged.
<br />.
<br />The request of the Samta Ana Cmmaercial Company was read, for a five cent increase
<br />
<br />per meter charge on trash and garbage collections, due to the additional operating
<br />costs incurred when the City Dump was closed and the additional truck miles per day
<br />necessary to drive to the County Dump and on motion of Councilman Dab_l, seconded by
<br />
<br />Jerome and carried, the request was referred to the Manager and Council for study.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids for the furnishing of gasoline for. the period.
<br />July l, 1956 to June 30, 1957; bids to be opened June 4, 1956.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing electric lamps for the fiscal
<br />
<br />year ending June 30, 1957; bids to be opened June ~th.
<br />
<br />Petition submitted by the Elks Building Association of Santa Ana, a corporation,
<br />
<br />recommendation of the Planning Commission and report of the Boundary Commission ~re
<br /> 9.186 acres
<br />presented on the proposed annexation/of certain real property located on the south
<br />
<br />side of E. First Street between Lyon Street and Prentice Park. On motion of Council-
<br />
<br />man Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, said documents were received and filed.

<br />The Council having nnanimous/y waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />
<br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the following Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br /> "Resolution No. 56-153 giving notice of proposed annexation to the City
<br /> of Santa Ana of that certain uninhabited territory described herein and
<br /> designated 'Elks Annex', and giving notice of time and place for hearing
<br /> of protests thereto"
