RESOLUTION NO. 74-61 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA ENDORSING PROPOSITION 3, CAL-VET <br />$350 MILLION BOND MEASURE ON THE JUNE 4TH <br />STATEWIDE BALLOT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cal-Vet program has been providing low- <br />interest home and farm loans to California veterans for 52 <br />years, to help them become happier and more secure citizens; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this program is entirely self-liquidating and <br />costs the taxpayer absolutely nothing; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />haust available <br />Korean veterans <br />per month; and <br /> <br />loans now being processed will completely ex- <br />funds, while applications from Vietnam and <br />still pour in at the rate of 1600 to 1800 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Proposition 3, a bond measure on the June 4th <br />statewide ballot, will provide $350 million to allow this <br />program to continue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, home purchases made possible by Cal-Vet loans <br />pump millions of dollars into the economy each year, and <br />create jobs in construction, insurance, appliance, home fur- <br />nishings and other industries; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we recognize our obligation to continue demon- <br />strating gratitude and generosity to today's Vietnam veterans, <br />as we have to the 283,000 veterans who have already received <br />Cal-Vet loans; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of <br />the City of Santa Ana does hereby endorse Proposition 3, so that <br />Cal-Vet loans may continue to help our veterans help themselves <br />at no cost to the taxpayer, and calls on all Californians to <br />do likewise, giving Proposition 3 an overwhelming YES vote on <br />June 4th. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of <br />Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of <br /> , 1974. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />
