Bid acceptance <br />Furnishing electric <br />lamps <br /> <br />Bid acceptance <br />Legal notices <br /> <br />Variance <br />J.F.McCowan <br /> <br />Variance <br />Everett Markum <br /> <br />Variance <br />Everett Markum <br /> <br />A tabulation of bids was presented by the Manager for the furnishing of electric <br /> <br />lamps for the period July 1, 1956 to June 30, 1957, in accordance with Specification <br />No, 452-3, as follows: <br /> <br />Electric Supplies Distributing Company: <br />At m~=ufacturers standard price schedule in effect at time <br />of delivery, less the following percentage 43~. <br />Guaranteed delivery time after receipt of order i - 4days. <br />Time payment discount 2~ 10th of following month. Kenrad lamps. <br /> <br />Gilbert & Stearns: <br />At manufacturers standard price schedule in effect at time <br />of delivery, less the following percentage 37.3~ <br />A further discount of 4.7~ of list value of lamps will be <br />allowed on lamps subject to Federal excise tax upon completion <br />of exemption certificates. <br />Guaranteed delivery time after receipt of order 2 to 3 days. <br />Time payment discount 2% 10th of following month. <br /> <br />Lindsey Electric: <br />At manufacturers standard price schedule in effect at time <br />of delivery, less the following percentage BSa. 33~- <br />Guaranteed detivery time after receipt of order 4 days. <br />Time payment discount 2~ 10th of following month. <br /> <br />Blower Paper Company: <br />At manufacturers standard price schedule in effect at time <br />of delivery, less the following percentage 46.7~. <br />Section D 1.1 Federal excise taxes 4.7~ <br />Photo flash lamps 42% <br />Guaranteed delivery time after r~ceipt of order 20 days. <br />Time payment discount 2~ 10th of following month. <br /> <br />Zimco-Electric Supply Company: <br />At manufacturers standard price schedule in effect at time <br />of delivery, less the following percentage 44~ <br />Guaranteed delivery time after receipt of order 14 days. <br />Time payment discount 2~ 10th of following month. <br /> <br />Orange County Wholesale Electric Company: <br />At manufacturers standard price schedule in effect at time <br />of delivery, less the following percentage Sylvania 37~ <br /> General Electric <br />Guaranteed delivery time after receipt of order 15 days. <br />Time payment discount 2% 10th of following month. <br /> <br />The Manager suggested that the matter of award be submitted to the judgment of the <br /> <br />Council as the bid of Zimco-Electric Supply Company is the low bid and Blower Paper <br /> <br />Company and Electric Supplies Distributing Company bids are higher but offer to <br /> <br />furnish lamps previously used by the City. On motion of Councilman Heinly, <br /> <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, the bid of Electric Supplies Distributing Company <br /> <br />was accepted on the basis that the lamps are the type of merchandise which the City <br /> <br />has used before and all other bids were rejected. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by <br /> <br />Heinly and carried, the bid of the Santa Aha Independent was accepted for the pub- <br /> <br />lication of legal notices and other matters required by law to be published, for <br /> <br />the fiscal year beginning July 1st, 1956 to June 30th, 1957. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Jerome and carried, the recommendation <br /> <br />of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of J.F.McCowan was granted <br /> <br />to permit the erection of a neon sign, 17" x 8' long, on building used for the <br /> <br />liquor department of McCowan's Market, llll South Bristol Street. <br /> <br />On motion of Counc~]m-n Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the recormnendation <br /> <br />of the Planning Commaission was approved and the variance of Everett Markum was <br /> <br />granted to permit the erection of a neon sign to advertise the business of a beauty <br /> <br />shop at 608 West Edinger Street, subject to the condition that the sign be limited <br /> <br />to a sign not to exceed 3' x 6'. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation <br /> <br />of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of Everett Markum was <br /> <br />granted to permit the erection of a neon sign to advertise the grocery business on <br /> <br />property at 602 West Edinger Street, subject to the condition that the sign be <br />limited to a size not to exceed 4' 7' <br /> <br /> <br />
