RESOLUTION NO. 74-116 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ORDERING, CALLING, PRO- <br />VIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON NOVEM- <br />BER 5, 1974, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING <br />TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS CERTAIN BALLOT MEA- <br />SURES AMENDING THE CITY CHARTER, AND REQUEST- <br />ING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY <br />TO CONSOLIDATE SAID ELECTION WITH THE STATE- <br />WIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana wishes <br />that certain amendments to the City Charter dividing the City <br />into eight wards and calling for the direct election of the <br />mayor be presented to the qualified voters of the City for <br />consideration for adoption in the manner provided in the City <br />Charter and the Constitution of the State of California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there will be a State-wide General Election held <br />on November 5, 1974; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by Ordinance NS-1217 previously adopted by the <br />City Council, the Board of Supervisors of Orange County was re- <br />quested to consolidate with said State-wide General Election a <br />Special Municipal Election on the question of authorizing the <br />Housing Authority of the City of Santa Aha to develop low-rent <br />housing for elderly low-income residents; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the aforementioned <br />Charter amendment proposition and the Housing Authority propo- <br />sition all be presented to and considered by the qualified vo- <br />ters of the City of Santa Ana at the same time and on the same <br />ballot. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Aha, that a special election shall be held and <br />the same is hereby called to be held in the City of Santa Ana <br />on November 5, 1974, for the purpose of submitting to the quali- <br />fied voters thereof ballot measures relating to dividing the <br />city into eight wards and providing for the direct election of <br />the mayor. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that on the ballot to be used at <br />said special election, in addition to any other matters required <br />by law, including the proposition language contained in Section <br />3 of Ordinance NS-1217 heretofore adopted, there shall be printed <br />propositions in such language as may be hereafter approved by <br />the City Council of the City of Santa Ana pertaining to the Char- <br />ter amendments described hereinabove. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all those provisions of Ordi- <br />nance NS-1217 pertaining to the conduct of the Special Election <br />therein called for shall apply in the same manner and effect to <br />the election on the Charter amendment propositions. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of <br />Orange County is hereby requested to include in the consolida- <br />tion of the Special Municipal Election called for in Ordinance <br />NS-1217 with the State-wide General Election to be held on <br />November 5, 1974, the aforementioned Charter amendment proposi- <br />tion and to conduct said single election on all propositions in <br />the manner provided in Ordinance NS-1217. <br /> <br /> <br />
