16. <br /> <br />Pr__~ect Sum~ary <br /> <br />The overall goal of this project is to design, develop, and <br />implement a computerized co~and and control system which will <br />be totally transferable to otker regional law enforcement <br />agencies and provide the nuc!eous for satellite command an~ <br />control centers serving additional police departments. The <br />purpose of the system is to significantly reduce response time <br />and provide the capability to properly distribute, manpower. <br /> <br />Major project objectives inc!u~e: <br /> <br /> Improved operational effectiveness <br /> Improved personne! safety <br /> Improved community relations <br /> Improved regional operational coordination <br /> Improved community safety <br /> Reduced crime rate~ <br /> Provide advanced p!annin~ and an operational basis <br /> for '911' emergency telephone system <br /> <br />A permanent advisory committee comprised of ~epresentatives from <br />each participating agency will be formed to provide a formal <br />vehicle for project coordination, administration, technical support <br />and evaluation. In addition, the project team ~ill be comprised <br />of a minimum of one representative from each agency which will <br />provide the detaile~ analysis and coordination for each agency. <br />Benefits anticipated from this project include: <br /> <br />Reduced response times for field units <br />Increased com~.unications accuracy <br />Reduced voice radio traffic <br />Increased dissemination of high-speed accurate information <br />Higher apprehension rates <br />Increased officer safety <br />Provides an operational ~asis for the forthcoming '911' <br />emergency telephone system <br />Crime rate reduction tkrough better operational readiness <br />Inexpensive transfer of technology to other potential <br />users of a system of this nature <br /> <br /> <br />
