SANTA ANA <br /> <br />ASSISTANT TO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR- <br /> <br />REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direction, performs highly responsible liaison and staff work in providing <br />management assistance and service to the Executive Director-Redevopment Agency and <br />to the Community Redevelopment Agency. <br /> <br />EXA. MPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Confers with, advises, and develops recommendations for the Redevelopment Agency <br />on policies and activities concerning the planning, development, promotion and <br />operations of community rehabilitation and redevelopment projects; assists in <br />implementing approved plans, ensuring adherence to requirements of federal and <br />state laws governing urban renewal and development; assists in organizing and <br />supervising the work of the Agency staff; assists in coordinating plans and acti- <br />vities with City officials and various other local agencies having jurisdictional <br />relationships with specific projects; assists in planning and organizing and <br />participates in a program of informing the public and obtaining its support of' <br />renewal programs; mee~s with potential investors and compiles, analyzes, interprets, <br />and evaluat~technical data used in the planning and development of programs and <br />projects;'prepares comprehensive technical reports; assists in preparing annual <br />budget recommendations for the Agency; works with Project Area Committees, neighborhood <br />councils and similar citizen participation groups; and performs other related <br />duties as required. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURE OF THE CLASS <br /> <br />The work of this class involves responsible administrative work in carrying out <br />the City's local renewal program, requiring the frequent exercise of independent <br />judgement and initiative within the general administrative framework established by <br />the Executive Director and the administrative framework established by the Executive <br />Director and the policy guidelines of the Agency. Provides staff services for the <br />Community Redevelopment Agency. Work is reviewed by the Executive Director. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED MINIMUM qUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education and experience equivalent to graduation from college with specialization <br />in business or public administration, planning or related field and at least three <br />years recent experience in a supervisory or responsible administrative capacity <br />in urban renewal, public housing, city planning, or similar work which provides <br />the following knowledge, skills and abilities: <br /> <br />Knowledge of: the principles, practices, economics and legal requirements of <br />urban redevelopment, including land acquisition and disposal, relocation and <br />property rehabilitation; the methods and techniques used and the problems involved <br />in the work of an urban redevelopment agency; the principles and practices of public <br />organization, management and administration as applied to a local public agency. <br />Ability to: develop comprehensive programs, reports and presentations and to <br />explain them effectively to the public and to governmental and private officials; <br />work with a wide variety of public officials, governmental agencies, business and <br />civic organizations and individuals, and the general public in an effective manner <br />relative to public relations and general project improvement. <br /> <br /> <br />
