RESOLUTION NO. 74-181 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING <br />THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION <br />RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELEC- <br />TION HELD IN SAID CITY ON NOVEMBER 5, 1974 <br /> <br /> The City Council of the City of Santa Ana, California, DOES <br />HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That a special municipal election was duly and reg- <br />ularly held in said City on the 5th day of November, 1974, at which <br />election there were submitted to the qualified voters of said City <br />the following propositions, to wit: <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION D - CITY OF SANTA ANA LOW-RENT <br />HOUSING PROPOSAL FOR ELDERLY LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS: <br />Shall the Housing Authority of the City of Santa <br />Ana develop, construct, or acquire in the City <br />of Santa Ana, with federal assistance and/or <br />assistance from a State public body, low-rent <br />housing specifically designed for elderly low- <br />income residents? <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION E CITY OF SANTA ANA DIRECT <br />ELECTION OF MAYOR AND DIVISION OF CITY INTO SIX <br />COUNCILMANIC WARDS PROPOSAL: Shall the charter <br />of the City of Santa Ana be amended to provide <br />that the city shall be divided into six council- <br />manic wards; to provide for direct at-large elec- <br />tion of a mayor who shall also sit on the council <br />as a seventh voting member; to establish the <br />qualifications, powers and duties of the office <br />of mayor; to authorize the city council to set <br />the mayor's compensation in accordance with char- <br />ter provisions; to provide that the city council <br />shall make appropriation for the mayor's office <br />in the annual budget; and to require adoption of <br />such ordinances as are necessary to implement the <br />amendments effective with the municipal election <br />of April 1, 19757 <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the returns of said election have been duly and <br />regularly canvassed as provided by law, and all absentee ballots re- <br />turned, if any, have been canvassed as provided by law, with said cer- <br />tification of canvass attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part <br />hereof as though set forth in full herein. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the votes cast in the precincts established for <br />said election upon said propositions, and for and against said propo- <br />sitions, the absentee votes, if any, cast upon said propositions and for <br />and against said propositions, and the total votes cast at said election <br />for and against said propositions and upon said propositions are set <br />forth in Exhibit B attached hereto and made a part hereof as though set <br />forth herein in full. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That the votes of a majority of all the voters voting <br />at said election upon proposition D were cast in favor of the adoption <br />of said proposition, and said proposition is hereby declared to have <br />been carried at said election. <br /> <br /> Section 5. That the votes of less than a majority of all the voters <br />voting at said election upon proposition E were cast in favor of the <br />adoption of said proposition, and said proposition is hereby declared <br />to have failed to carry at said election. <br /> <br /> <br />
