RESOLUTION NO. 7 $- 2 S <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />APPROVING THE 1995 FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in 1970, the 1968 National Highway Functional Classification <br />Study was updated to 1970 aad expanded to define a projected 1990 National <br />Highway Functional Classification System; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in 1973, the California Department of Public Works initiated <br />an update and further projection of that Study from 1990 to 1995 as a first <br />step in complying with Chapter 1253, Statutes of 1972 (AB 69) for the de- <br />velopment of the highway element of the California Transportation Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Engineering Board (MTEB) Vice <br />Chairmen coordinated the 1995 Functional Classification Study within their <br />respective jurisdictions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Engineering Board is the SCAG <br />Committee authorized to approve the 1995 Functional Classification Study for <br />the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of Governments is expected <br />to pass a resolution supporting the 1995 Functional Classification Study <br />developed by the MTEB members and adopted by the cities and counties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1995 Functional Classification Study would provide the <br />Federal Department of Transportation with facts required to make recommendations <br />to Congress on specific changes considered desirable with respect to the <br />character and size of Federal-Aid systems and programs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1995 Functional Classification Study would also provide the <br />California Legislature with the facts required to form an objective approach <br />to determination of criteria for future highway, road and street systems <br />and programs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Council approval of the 1995 Functional Classification Study <br />will not preclude future adjustments of street classifications due to changing <br />population, travel and land use; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Functional Classification Study Map is consistent with the <br />Select Street System and with the 1995 Functional Classification Systems of <br />contiguous jurisdictions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this 1995 Functional Classification Study for the CITY has been <br />completed and found to be satisfactory to the Ca&ifornia Department of Trans- <br />portation. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />that the 1995 Functional Classification plan for the City of Santa Ana is hereby <br />approved. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at <br />its ~journed regular meeting passed on the loth day of March, <br /> <br />ATTEST: ~~- <br /> MAYOR <br /> <br />CLERK OF TH~ COUNCIL <br /> <br />1975. <br /> <br /> <br />
