<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br />OF SANTA ANA STATING AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
<br />OF THE CANVASS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
<br />ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALI-
<br />FORNIA, ON APRIL 1, 1975.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Aha, by
<br />Ordinance NS-12S0, duly called for and provided for the holding
<br />of a General Municipal Election on April 1, 197S, to fill
<br />vacancies in public offices; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Notice of said election, Notice of nominees
<br />for public office, and notice of the election officers and
<br />polling places were regularly given in time, form and manner
<br />as provided by law; the sample ballots, and the statements
<br />submitted by the candidates for public office, were regularly
<br />mailed to all electors within the City, and sample ballots were
<br />mailed to those electors outside of the City but within the
<br />Santa Ana Unified School District; and ~aid election on said
<br />date was duly held at the polling places designated and the
<br />votes cast thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof made
<br />in the time, manner, and form provided by law; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, on the 8th day of April, 197S, the City Coun-
<br />cil of the City of Santa Ana has duly assembled at its usual
<br />place of meeting, the returns of said election having been
<br />canvassed by the Clerk of the Council pursuant to Resolution
<br />75-5;
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa
<br />Aha does hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows:
<br />
<br /> That the General Municipal Election was duly held on
<br />April 1, 1975, and the votes cast thereat were duly and regu-
<br />larly canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time, form,
<br />and manner required; that all things were regularly done as
<br />required by law; that the absent voter ballots were duly can-
<br />vassed and counted as required by law, and the result of such
<br />count is hereinafter set forth on Exhibit A, attached hereto
<br />and made a part hereof; that the Clerk of the Council has duly
<br />canvassed the returns of said election and from the said returns
<br />it appears, and the City Council finds, that the total number
<br />of votes cast in each precinct for each person, the number of
<br />votes given in the City to each person, the whole number of
<br />votes cast in the City, and the total number of absentee votes
<br />cast in the City and in consolidated voting Precinct Nos. 9S
<br />and 96 which consisted of one State and County precinct and
<br />eight State and County precincts, respectively and of School
<br />District territory which lies outside of the City Limits of
<br />the City of Santa Ana, are as set forth on Exhibit A attached
<br />hereto and made a part hereof.
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at said General Municipal
<br />Election Gordon Bricken, residing in Ward One, was elected to
<br />the office of Member of the City Council for a term of two
<br />years; that Vernon S. Evans, residing in Ward Tw~, David L.
<br />Brandt, residing in Ward Four, and Dave "Red" Ortiz, residing
<br />in Ward Six, were elected to the office of Member of the City
<br />Council for a term of four years; and
<br />
<br /> That Don Franklin, Cordelia Gutierrez and Peter J.
<br />Vogel received the greatest number of votes for the election
<br />of three members of the Governing Board of the Santa Ana
<br />Unified School District consisting of 70 precincts within
<br />and 2 precincts without the City of Santa Ana, as set forth
<br />in Exhibit A;
