The survey also indicated to the field operatives that, in n~nerous <br />cases, the lower rated units had a distinct correlation with the closeness <br />of a residence to major arterial highways and incompatible uses. Often <br />a cursory examination from nearby roadways or adjacent areas would give <br />one a m~ch more detrimental impression than a full survey of each block <br />and parcel within the entire neighborhood. Interior blocks often showed <br />· more substantial improvement activity than periphery blocks or block faces <br /> adjacent to incc~npatible uses.
