To promote and insure open and free choice of housing <br /> for all. <br /> <br />To act as a guide for municipal decisions and how these <br />decisions affect the quality of the housing stock and <br />inventory. <br /> <br />· Policies <br /> <br /> The following policy statements are offered as guidelines in <br />the development of programs to achieve City-wide housing goals. <br /> <br />Support local, state and federal actions which serve to <br />improve the climate for housing which meets the needs of <br />all groups and which serves to upgrade the corm~nity as <br />well. <br /> <br />o Maintain uniform minimum standards for housing. <br /> <br />o Encourage the construction of high quality new housing <br /> that will attract the moderate and high income segments. <br /> <br />o Promote higher standards of housing design, construction <br /> and amenity in new housing. <br /> <br />o Pursue an aggressive rehabilitation, demolition and re- <br /> placement program to upgrade the existing housing stock. <br /> <br />o Provide adequate housing for the current low income seg- <br /> ment of the City. <br /> <br />o Assure that housing concerns and needs become an integral <br /> part o£ the City planning and management process. <br /> <br />Promote the creation of public and private mechanisms to <br />stimulate and guide private initiative in meeting housing <br />needs. <br /> <br />Provide a decent residential environment throughout the <br />City by ensuring that all housing receives a proper and <br />equitable delivery of public services. <br /> <br />o Promote excellent and equitable facilities and <br /> services in all residential conmunities. <br /> <br />000161 <br /> <br /> <br />
