HEATING E~UIPMENT <br /> <br />Seventeen percent Of th~ housing units in Santa Aha <br />lacked heating equipment in 1970, The proportion in <br />Orange County. was 13%. <br /> <br />Renter households lacked adequate heating more fre- <br />quently than homeowner households. <br /> <br />Most units with inadequate heating equipment have all <br />plumbing facilities. <br /> <br />Approximately 85% of the d~elling units occupied by <br />Whites had heating equipment, compared with 81% for <br />Negro and 73% of the White Spanish Language or Spanish <br />surname dwelling units. <br /> <br />PLUMBING FACILITIES <br /> <br /> Units lacking plumbing facilities totaled 580 in 1970, <br />approximately 1.2% of the housing stock. <br /> <br />Higher than average proportions of inadequate plumbing <br />facilities occSr among minority households, low income <br />households, and renters, and among occupants of housing <br />with the lowest values and the lowest rents. <br /> <br />- Three hundred eighty-two of the 580 units lacking <br /> plumbing facilities were occupied by renters. <br /> <br />MANUFACTURED HOUSING <br /> <br />Mobile homes and mobile home parks are both showing <br />growth rates higher than other components of the <br />housing market. Mobile homes more than doubled from <br />1970 to 1974, accounting for about §.6% of the Santa <br />Aha housing stock. <br /> <br />Most mobile homes are owned and, compared to other <br />housing, are relatively new. Mobile home parks are <br />used for both residential and recreational purposes. <br /> <br />About 1% of mobile home park spaces in <br />Santa Aha can be expected to be vacant <br />as long as the high costs of housing <br />and population growth continue in Orange <br />County. <br /> <br />O0001Z <br /> <br /> <br />
