HS: rs <br />6-2-75 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 75~5 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER AS <br />THE AUTHORIZED OFFICER TO CONDUCT ALL NEGOTIA- <br />TIONS TO OBTAIN GRANT-IN AID UNDER THE NATIONAL <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT FOR THE HOWE-WAFFLE <br />AND CARRIAGE HOUSE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the office of the Secretary of Interior <br />of the United States has reviewed the City of Santa Ana's <br />historic application and as of March 17, 1975 has placed <br />the Howe-Waffle House and the Carriage House on The National <br />Register. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana desires to undertake a pro- <br />ject to relocate the Howe-Waffle House and Carriage House to a site <br />near the old County Courthouse at 7th and Sycamore and to restore <br />them to their original condition. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, matching grant-in aid is available for such <br />historic relocation through Tke National Register for Historic <br />Places and the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the <br />United States (63 STAT. 927) under the National Historic <br />Preservation Act of 1966 (Pl. 89-665, 80 STAT. 915, 16 USC 470, <br />et seq.). <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has submitted an appli- <br />cation to receive $54,000 from the National Trust for Historic <br />Preservation, a federal agency, to relocate and restore the Howe- <br />Waffle House and the Carriage House, and to have the same amount <br />be matched by local funds as so designated by the Santa Ana <br />Historical Preservation Society and/or the Santa Ana Bicentennial <br />Committee. <br /> WHEREAS, the office of the Director of the California <br />State Department of Parks and Recreation (who has been designated <br />the State Historic Preservation Officer of the National Park <br />Service and is assigned the responsibility for disbursing funds <br />under the National Historic Preservation Act},has requested this <br />City to submit a resolution naming the officer or employee of <br />the governing body who will be authorized to conduct all nego- <br />tiations and sign contracts to secure National Trust funds for <br />the preservation of the Howe-Waffle House and Carriage House. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Manager <br />of the City of Santa Ana, Bruce C. Spragg, is authorized to <br />submit an application for matching grant-in aid funds to the <br />National Trust for Historic Preservation, and such other appli- <br />cation and documents required by the California State Department <br />of Parks and Recreation, this State's Historic Preservation <br />Officer of the National Park Service. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, tbat the City Manager is <br />authorized to e~ec,~te all contracts, including any extensions <br /> <br /> <br />
