HRS :po <br />6-11-75 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 75-77 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR A <br />TEAM POLICING DISCRETIONARY GRANT FROM THE <br />LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUmeNTS <br />PERTINENT THERETO <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Institute for Law Enforcement <br />and Criminal Justice, and organizational research arm of the <br />Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, U.S. Depart- <br />ment of Justice, has selected Santa Ana as one of six cities to <br />participate in a national Team Policing Study; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana desires to make <br />application for a certain project designated as a Community <br />Team Policing Grant to be funded in whole from funds made <br />available through the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets <br />Act of 1968, PL 90-355, as amended, PL 91-644, and by the <br />Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, and to be admin- <br />istered by the California Council on Criminal Justice. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council <br />of the City of Santa Ana that the Chief of Police, Raymond <br />C. Davis of the Santa Ana Police Department, was authorized <br />on its behalf, to submit an application for a Community Team <br />Policing Grant to the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration <br />as recommended by the National Institute for Law Enforcement <br />and Criminal Justice, and is authorized to execute on behalf <br />of the City of Santa Ana a Community Team Policing Grant Award <br />Contract and any other documents including any extensions or <br />amendments thereof. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the applicant agrees to <br />use all non-matching discretionary funds received to implement <br />a Community Team Policing Program as so presented in the <br />application, and to cooperate and participate in the national <br />Team Policing Study conducted by the National Institute for <br />Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the discretionary grant <br />funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant other <br />on-going law enforcement expenditures, and that this City will <br />provide investigative, traffic, management and any other service <br />at the team policing community level as an adjunct to the <br />Community Team Policing Grant. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City <br />of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 16th <br />day of June , 1975. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />I:LOP.
