No. 57-75 <br />Accept Quit Claim Deed <br />Elks Building Assoc. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that the Civic <br /> Center area be extended to include Van Ness Avenue between Sixth and Eighth Streets <br /> o~d the easterly one-half of the block bounded by V~m Ness Avenue, Sixth, Parton, <br /> and Eighth Streets, and on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and car- <br /> tied, the communication was received and filed. On motion of Coancilman Jerome· <br /> seconded by Markel a~ld carried, a notice of public hearing was ordered published <br /> setting the date of hearing on ~.My 6th·!957. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that Poinsettia <br /> Street, from 50 feet south of the center line of !7th Street south to the north <br /> property line of the Santa Aha Freeway, be abandoned, subject to the condition of <br /> the Department of Public Works, and on motion of Cou~cilman t~inly, seconded by <br /> ~.~rkel and carried~ the communication was received and filed. The Council having <br /> unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Heinly, <br /> seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 57-73 approving map, declaring intention to vacate <br /> a portion of Poinsettia Street between Seventeenth Street a~d the <br /> Santa Ana Freeway and fixing time and place for hearing thereon" <br /> <br /> was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> A~ves, Councilmen Dale H. Neinly, J. Ogden ~rkel, <br /> William Jerome, Milford W. Dahl <br /> Noes, Councilmen Hone <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Planni~kc Commission recommending that the alley <br /> located ~ust north of the Santa Aha Freeway off Valencia Street, reference request <br /> of Harry Tancredi, be abandoned, subject to the conditions of the Department of <br /> Public Works, and on motion of Councilman Jerome· seconded by Heinly and carried, <br /> action was postponed until the next meeting and the Clerk instructed to <br /> notify the applicant to be present. <br /> <br /> Attorney Otto A. Jacobs offered to accept the sum of $2500.00 in settlement for the <br /> property conveyed to the City by J. E. Prentice et al described as the northerly <br /> 17' of Lot "A" except the easterly 379' thereof in Stafford and Tustin Tract, <br /> located on the northwest corner of First and Lyon Streets. It was moved by Counci[ <br /> man Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, that the City accept the compromise <br /> of $2500.00 in the condemnation suit of the City of Santa Aha vs Prentice et al, <br /> Case No. 64886. <br /> <br /> The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of <br /> Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution <br /> entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 57-74 accepting Grant Deed" <br /> <br />from J. E. Prentice conveying to the City, property described as the northerly 17' <br />of Lot "A" except the easterly 379' thereof in Stafford and Tustin Tract, located <br />at the northwest corner of First and Lyon Streets,for the sum of $2500.00· was con- <br />sidered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes· Councilmen Dale H.
