RESOLUTION NO. 76-17 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISH- <br />MENT OF A PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN THE <br />CIVIC CENTER OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has the opportunity <br />to assume County leadership in locating and establishing a <br />Performing Arts Center in the Santa Ana Civic Center area, the <br />center of activities in the County of Orange for the Federal, <br />State, County and City governments; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is no gathering hall in this area or <br />in Orange County equipped to stage different kinds of presenta- <br />tions, or able to accommodate more than 500 people; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the establishment of a Performing Arts Center <br />in Santa Ana will assist in efforts to embellish, improve and <br />enhance the image of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the establishment of a Performing Arts Center <br />would create a cultural climate that will heighten the overall <br />quality of life in the community; and <br /> <br />Orange <br />Center <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the educational institutions in t~e County of <br />have earnestly expressed their need of and support for a <br />for the Performing Arts; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the tradesmen in the County of Orange and the <br />business community of downtown Santa Ana wholeheartedly support <br />the establishment of a Performing Arts Center in the Civic Center; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the establishment of a Performing Arts Center <br />would create new employment and business that would be attracted <br />to the Civic Center area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is a clear position that the County of <br />Orange recognizes a need for an Arts Center, and would contribute <br />to such an undertaking; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS; other municipalities in other parts of the <br />State and country have successfully financed performing arts centers <br />with local, State and Federal assistance; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council <br />of the City of Santa Aha will assume the commitment of leadership, <br />guidance and support for the establishment of a Performing Arts <br />Center to include a large audience theater in the Civic Center of <br />the City of Santa Aha. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of <br />Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of <br />January, 1976. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />FLORENCE I.
