No. 57-145 <br />Authorize condemnation <br />of certain real property <br />for purpose of establish- <br />ing public buildings <br /> ~,,/? / <br /> <br />On recommendation of the curb usage comittee and on motion of Councilman Hubbard, <br />seconded by Hall and carried, the request of Kenneth N. Lind on behalf of A. & P. <br />Market for four 35' driveways at Bristol Street and Fairview Avenue, was granted. <br />On recommendation of the curb usage committee and on motion of Councilman Hall, <br />seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of Means & Ulrich on behalf of <br />California Bank, at 2222 South Main Street, for a 27'6" driveway, was granted. <br /> <br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of <br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution <br />entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 57-144 concerning parking limitations and <br /> curb markings in accordance therewith" <br /> <br />establishing 20' vision zones at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Spurgeon <br />Street, as recommended by the Traffic Engineer, was considered and passed by the <br /> <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen <br /> <br />Noes, Councilmen <br />Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br /> Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, <br /> J. Ogden Markel, Dale H. Heialy <br /> None <br /> None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, that action be <br /> continued until the next regular meeting on the report of the curb usage committee <br /> reference change in effective hours for parking time limits in Central Traffic <br /> District, in connection with request of the Retail Division of the Chamber of <br /> Commerce. <br /> <br />The Manager presented the report of the Traffic Engineer reference the request of <br />Mrs. Francis Farris for a stop control at the northeast corner of lOO1 North Parton <br />Street stating that the picket fence ~t said corner of the intersection is the <br />major factor in contributing to poor visibility and recommending no action be taken <br />but the property owner be notified how to remedy the condition with a fence' less <br />than 3' O" above the grade of the roadway. On motion of Councilman Markel, <br />seconded by Gould and carried, the recommendation of the committee was approved, <br />request filed and the Clerk directed to send a copy of the report to Mrs. Farris. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the request of <br /> <br />Santa Aha Unit No. 131, American Legion Auxiliary was denied for the use of two <br />parking spaces at the First Western Bank, Fourth and Main Streets, for Poppy Day, <br />May 24th, on the basis of the policy as adopted by the former Council. <br /> <br />On recc~mendation of the Manager it was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by <br />Markel and carried, that the Council go on record opposing Assembly Bill 2440, <br />reference the Legislature establishing minimum qualifications for all local employees <br />and minimum wages, maximum hours, pensions, vacations and other fringe benefits and <br />working conditions and a letter of protest be directed to the Senator and Assemblyman <br />representing this area requesting their opposition to the Bill. <br /> <br />On reccmmendation of the Manager it was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by <br />Gould and carried, that the Council go on record opposing Assembly Bill 3049, <br />reference Grand Jury examination of books, records and accounts of City Officers, <br />and a letter of protest be directed to the Senator and Assemblyman representing this <br />area requestin~ their opposition to the Bill. <br /> <br />The Council h~ving unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of <br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 57-145 authorizing the eondemnation of certain real <br /> property for the purpose of establishing thereon public buildings, <br /> including a public library, and declaring the public necessity therefor" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
