CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />COP~IUNITY DEVELOPI~NT COORDINATOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direction of.the Deputy City Hanager for Development Services, performs <br />responsible liaison and administrative staff work in assisting and coordinating <br />the activities of several departments relative ~o the implementation of the City's <br />Housing and Community Development Block Grant program. <br /> <br />EXAMFLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Condects ~esearch, develops facts, analyzes data and prepares reports and reference <br />doc,,-~nts regarding the United States Department of Housin§ and Urban Development <br />rules and regulations, and requirements pertaining to the Housing and Conm~unity <br />Development Block grant program; insures program compliance with State and Regional <br />A-95 C?.~aringhouse Reviews, determines community needs; formulates goals, long- <br />term an~ short-term objectives; prepares programs; develops projects, schedules, <br />and implementation processes; makes presentations to neighborhood groups, City <br />staff, boards, commissions and the City Council; coordinates activities with <br />departmental staff members to assure execution and implementation of projects <br />consistent with objectives and responsibe to community needs; prepares grant <br />applications and progress and financial reports; monitors project activities to <br />assure timely achievement; and performs other related duties as required. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS <br /> <br />This is a highly responsible and technical staff work requiring considerable <br />initiative, attention to details, exercise of independent Judgment, compliance <br />with strict timetables, and application of knowledge relative to Federal, State <br />and Regional Community Development grant programs. Incumbent will work indepen- <br />dently or as a team member on · wide variety of tasks involving considerable contact <br />with staff members of various department% community groups and elected and appointed <br />officials. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED qUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education and experience equivalent to graduation from a recognized four-year <br />college or university with specialization in public or business administration, <br />economics or closely related field and three years of responsible governmental <br />administrative staff experience in research, finance, administration, or similar <br />work which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities: <br /> <br />Considerable knowledge of Housing and Community Development Block Grant program; <br />municipal organization; principles and practices of public administration; and <br />research technlques, methods and procedures. Knowledge of Housing Rehabilitation, <br />relocation assistance, public relations, and cormmunity participation. Ability to: <br />assemble, organize, analyze and interpret factual data for the purpose of formulating <br />comprehensive programs; develop and present ideas effectively both orally and in <br />writing; and establish and maintain effective relationships with other employees, <br />the general public and governmental officials. <br /> <br />35 <br /> <br /> <br />
