<br />It was moved by Councilman H~bbard, sones%ed by Q$t~ld and carried, that the

<br />matter, be corrected to read as follows: "It was moved by Comnciln~u~ Hubbard,
<br />seconded by Gould and carried, that the Council go on record as not objecting
<br />to the annexa+,ion and continuing of the sa~e use to which the property is now
<br />put, i.e., R-~." On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and car-
<br />ried, the Minutes of June 3rd~ 1957~ as corrected, were approved.

<br />2his being the date set for the continued hearing of protests on ~nnexat~on to the
<br />City of certain inhabited territory designated "South of Smeltzer Annexation", the
<br />Clerk read her report giving the result that the area has a total assessed land
<br />valuation of $1,257,190.00; the assessed value of the land represented by the pro-
<br />testants whose protests ~mre filed, was found to be $850,100.00, and from these
<br />figures more than 50% of the property o~ners have protested against the annexation.
<br />The Mayor declared the protests are sufficient and no further action on the pro-
<br />posed annexation will be tal~en.
<br />
<br />This being the date set for the continued hearing of protests on annexation to the
<br />City of certain inhabited territory desicnated "North of Smeltzer Annexation",
<br />communication was read from Felipe and Christiana Flores, owners of eicJ~t lots in
<br />the area commonly called 'Colonia Juarez" and generally bounded by Independencia
<br />and Cinco de ~,~o Streets, statist they have no objection to the annexation. On
<br />motion of Cotmcilman Markel, seconded 10y Hall and carried, the communication was
<br />received and filed. Protests signed by Katherine ~mall, Fred R. H~.~mmond et al
<br />
<br />~re presented against the proposed annexation. Withdrawal of protests against
<br />election and armexation proceeding was presented, signed by Hitoshi Nitta et at,
<br />with an assessed land valuation of $23,800.00. On motion of Counci%man Hall,
<br />seconded by Marl:el and carried, the protests and withdrawal of preterits ~re
<br />received, filed and referred to %he Clerk to check the authenticity of the sigmatures
<br />according to the Statute. The Clerk read her report giving the result that the
<br />area has a total assessed ].and vsguation of $1,h40~505.00; the assessed value of
<br />the land represented by the protestants whose protests t.~re filed prior to ~.imy
