<br />seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request was granted. Mr. Gordon again il
<br />requested reconsideration of the application to move a house from 8315 Cly-
<br />bourne, Los Angeles to 21149 West 5th Street and stated that the prospective
<br />buyer, Antonio Espinosa would bring the house up to City standards and furnish
<br />a performance bond. Mr. Rasmassen of the Building Department informed the
<br />Council that the 25 foot width lot is too small for the size of the h~se and
<br />the applicant said it could be cut 1 foot to conform. The Mayor denied the
<br />appeal for reconsideration, since the Council would not take action, and sus-
<br />tained the action and order of the Department of Building Safety and Hcmsing.~
<br />
<br />The Manager gave an oral report on the operation of a loud speaker by David
<br />Well~ro ok on the west side of Birch Park, which constitutes an objection by
<br />
<br />Cleve Sedoris, whose tenants and other residents in the neighborhood protest
<br />
<br />the nuisance, and recommended that the special license permit of Mr. Wellbrook
<br /> electrical ~,

<br />19, 1957, 7:30 P.M., to show cause why his Special License to preach on the
<br />west side of Ross Street between Second and Third Streets, should not he
<br />revoked.

<br /> oflhe City of Newport Beach was received and filed, expressing appreciation
<br /> for the material assistance in making available sufficient water to carry the

<br />City of Newport Beach through the current water shortage.

<br />O~ motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the resignatio:
<br />of W. B. Taylor as a member of the Personnel Board, was accepted with regrets
<br />and a letter of appreciation ordered written to Mr. Ta~lor.

<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Gould and carried, the matter of
<br />appointment to the Personnel Board to fill the unexpired term of W. B. Taylor
<br />was held over until the next regular meeting.

<br />On motion of Councilm~n Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the communica-
<br />tion from the Board of Recreation and Parks was received and filed, with ref-
<br />erence to Board appointments of Herbert Stroschein to fill the vacancy of
<br />Donald L. Hayden, term to expire July .1, 1961 and of Oliver C. Lawson to fill
<br />the unexpired term of Daniel C. McNaughton, term to expire July 1, 1959.
<br />Councilman Markel nominated James Gilmore to the Bower's Museum Board to fill
<br />the unexpired term of A. H. Allen, term to expire July 1, 1961. Unanimous
<br />vote cast by other Council members.
