RESOLUTION NUMBER 76-101 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> HONORING KWIZ RADIO <br />FOR 50 YEARS OF SERVICE TO SANTA ANA <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />KWIZ was the first radio station to be located <br />in Santa Ana and Orange County, and began <br />broadcasting on November 6, 1926; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />KWIZ's AM Radio Station was the only AM radio <br />station to broadcast in Santa Ana from 1926 to <br />1959; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />KWIZ has been a major news and entertainment <br />source for the citizens of Santa Ana and other <br />Orange County cities for 50 years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />KWIZ's involvement in Public Service and Public <br />Affairs has made it a source of information for <br />the citizens and residents of Santa Ana and <br />Orange County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, KWIZ aspires to motivate its listeners to partic- <br /> ipate in community and civic affairs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS~ <br /> <br />KWIZ's contributions to community affairs have <br />consistently been outstanding in air time and <br />civic involvement for 50 years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />KWIZ has continually strived to maintain a profes- <br />sional staff in areas of management, programing, <br />public affairs, news, sports and advertising; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Radio Station KWIZ, <br /> located in Santa Ana and serving the greater <br /> Orange County area is to be lauded and extolled <br /> for its continual o~standing operation as a <br /> business in Santa Aha, source of news and enter- <br /> tainment for Orange County and a vehicle for <br /> public affairs discussions on its 50£h anniversary <br /> November 6~ 1976. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 16th day of August, 1976, by the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: COUNCILMEN: Bricken, Brandt, Yamamoto, Eva~, W~d <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />NOES: COUNCILMEN: <br /> <br />ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> VICE MAYOR' <br /> <br /> <br />
