355 ' Council Chamber Santa Aha City Hall Nove~aber 4, 1957. 7:30 P.M. City Council met in regular session. ~eeting called to order by the Mayor. Present: Councilmen Absent: Counci lm~n Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. Ao Hall, J. Ogden Narkel, Dale H. Heinly None The Pledge of Allegiance was given. ~ Invocation was given by Reverend Gerald S. Christian Church. Bash of the First Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of October 21, 1957, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and app~roved on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried. 'Mayor Heinly presented a merit certificate and cash award to Dolores Genevieve Berg, the outstanding driver of the mont~ in the Safe Driving Campaign. A tabulation of bids was presented by the Manager for the construction of pavement, Bid acceptance Construction pavement, etc. on Wilshire from Bristol to Olive Sts. curb and gutter, on uncompleted portions of Wilshire Avenue from Bristol Street to Olive Street and Russell Avenue from Rosewood Avenue to Lowell Street, Project C-22~ proposals having been submitted by the following contractors: R. J. Noble, Griffithll Compan~ a~ Sully-Miller Contracting Company. The Manager reported that money had been deposited with the City by all but two property owners on the Wilshire Avenue frontage but the property owners on Russell Avenue were not interested in having the work done and recomended the award be made to Sully-Miller Contracting Ccmpan~ at the unit prices submitted in their bid for Wilshire Avenue only. On motion of Coun- Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the bid of Sully-Miller Contracting Cometary on unit prices f= Wilshire Avenue only, was accepted and all other bids~ Bid acceptance Construction pavement, etc. on Walnut St. from Pacific to Daisy St. rejected. A tabulation of bids was presented by the Manager for the construction of pavement, sidewalks, cross gutters and conbinatiun curb and gutter on Walnut Street from Pacific Avenue toDaisy Street, Project No. 107, as follows: Sully-Miller Contracti~ Company Cox Broso Construction Ccmpar~ R.J. Noble Compan~ Griffith Ccmpany Total $34,-~'~.62 Certified check $4,500.00 38,285.70 Bond 10% 36,809.10 " " 34,657.26 " $4,000.00 Bid acceptance Cast iron water pipe On recommendatioa of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by ~rkel and carried, the bid of Sully-Miller Contracting Compan~ in the amoun~ of $34,379.62, was accepted and the other bids rejected. A tabulation of bids was presented by the Manager for the furnishing of 10,000 lines feet, cement-lined, rubber gasket Jointed, 8" water pipe, per specification No.481-1 as follows: United States Pipe& Foundry Co. $30,494.00 Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. 30,840.00 Bid acceptance 2 Motorcycles Bid acceptance Truck chassis & cab On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the bid of United States Pipe & Foundry Co., was accepted and the other bid rejected. ,, The Manager presented bid cf Nager & Walker for the furnishing of two solo type motor. cycles for Police use, with two trade-ins, per specification No. 622-2, at a net cos1 of $2,610.64. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the bid of Wager & Walker was accepted. The Manager presented a tabulation of bids for the furnishing of one truck cab and chassis, per specification No. 623-9, as follows: Net Cost Eltiste Co. $3,766.11 W. W. Woods 3,317.71 George Dunt on 3,835.61 ~uaranty Chevrolet 3,340.45 On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the bid of W. W. Woods was accepted a~ all other bids rejected.
