Heinly Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilman None On m~tion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the Manager was instructed to commence a survey to establish signs to advise the public of t~e location of parking lot facilities within six blocks of the intersection of Fourth and Main Streets and report to the Council November 6, 1957 at 9 A.M. , On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, action was con- tinued on an agreement to remove encroachment signed by Santa Aha Neon Company, eta] for the construction of an electric sign at 1729 North Grand Avenue and referred to the Manager for report at the next meeting. ,, On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the communication of Attorney M. Lyle Nelson reference to the law on retirement of safety employees, was received and filed and Attorney Otto A. Jacobs to be advised that the Council deny his interpretation of the law set forth in letter dated June 25, 1957, quoting Sections 21264 and 21337 of the Government Code of California, providing for an allowance to the survivors of retired safety employees. . On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the request by the parents of students attending Jefferson School for the City to accept the use of a portable traffic signal at the intersection of Seventeenth and Ross Streets, was denied and the Clerk instructed to so notify Mr. Virgil H. Reed. . The Council having unanimousl~ waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution entitled.~ "Resolution No. 57-279 concerni~ par~ing limitations and curb markings in accordance therewith" repealing red curbs and crosswalk on Broadway between Eighth and Sixth Streets, was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Counc~lm~n Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, J. Ogden Markel,Dale H.Heinly Noes, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard Absent, Councilmen None M~. Donald A. Hart, 2321 Spurgeon Street protested the collection of trash and gar- bage at the early hour of 5:00 A.M. and on motion of Councilman Gould, seconded ~y Hall and carried, the Manager was instructed to write a letter to the Santa Aha Commercial Company advising them that there shall be no pickup of trash or garbage before 7~00 A.M. in the residential area. .
