EDC: rs <br />2-15-77 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 77-20 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA DECLARING THE MONTH <br />OF MARCH AS BURGLARY PREVENTION MONTH <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Criminal Justice Council has <br />sponsored and supervised the Crime Prevention Grant known as <br />Burglary Prevention Through Citizen Participation, which involves <br />a majority of Orange County cities in a concerted anti-burglary <br />effort on a Countywide basis, utilizing police/public cooperation; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the crime of burglary in Orange County rose 11% <br />in 1975 over 1974 to a staggering 37,885 separate crimes, costing <br />the Orange County citizens over $16 million in 1975; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, 2394 felony arrests were made by police agencies <br />in Orange County in 1975 for the crime of burglary, with only 1.6% <br />ultimately going to prison; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Criminal Justice Council adopted <br />Resolution No. A77-1 on January 19, 1977, declaring the month of <br />March as Burglary Prevention Month, and asks other governmental <br />units to join in said declaration; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana is <br />firmly committed to the protection of the law-abiding citizen, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana: that said Council hereby declares the month of <br />March to be Burglary Prevention Month and urges all residents of <br />the City of Santa A~a to participate actively and cooperate in <br />preventing the crime of burglary. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED, this 22nd day of <br />following vote, to wit: <br /> <br />AYES, COUNCILMEN: Evans, <br /> <br />February , 1977, by the <br /> <br /> Yamamoto, Bricken, Ortiz, <br />Garthe, Brandt, Ward <br /> <br />NOES, COUNCIL~{EN: None <br /> <br />ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />APPROVED~AS TO FO~ <br /> <br />KEITH L.
