RESOLUTION NO. 77-37 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA HONORING <br />TED W. BARTLETT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has been a resident of the City <br />of Huntington Beach for 49 years and has been active in the affairs <br />of his community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, having been elected for terms totaling 20 years <br />since 1944, Ted W. Bartlett has served as a member of the Hunting- <br />ton Beach City Council and has served both as Mayor and Vice-Mayor <br />of the City of Huntington Beach; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has provided guidance and inspira- <br />tion for the youth of the community, serving as an active leader <br />in the Orange Empire Council, Boy Scouts of America, the Huntington <br />Beach Boys' Club, and Pyle Boys' Camp, and in recognition thereof <br />was awarded the "Mr. Huntington Beach Award" in 1972 from the Boy <br />Scouts of America for scouting and community service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as a hometown businessman, Ted W. Bartlett is the <br />longest serving member of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce <br />and former president thereof, has been an active member of the Asso- <br />ciated Chamber of Commerce, and was chosen "Man of the Year" in <br />1973 by the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has also served as president of <br />the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities and <br />has been a member of the State Board of Directors of the League; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has been a member of and active <br />in the affairs of many worthwhile organizations, including the Com- <br />munity Chest, American Red Cross, Family Service Association, <br />Huntington Beach Assistance League, 20th Century Club, Elks Lodge, <br />Masonic Lodge, Rotary Club, Toastmaster Club and Windsor Club; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett resides at 1718 Pine Street, Hunt- <br />ington Beach, California with his wife Alice, who has also been <br />active in community affairs as a member of the Orange County Grand <br />Jury and the Women's Division of the Huntington Beach Chamber of <br />Commerce; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, from his membership in the Huntington Beach Feder- <br />ated Women's Club and the Huntington Beach Women's Club, it appears <br />that Ted W. Bartlett is a staunch advocate of women's rights; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has long been a supporter of the <br />Republican Party, having served on the California and Orange County <br />Republican Central Committees and having particularly distinguished <br />himself as the Orange County Republican leader Chairman of "Democrats <br />for Dewey"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a diligent investigation has revealed that, notwith- <br />standing the foregoing accomplishments, Ted W. Bartlett is still <br />alive and well, <br /> <br /> <br />
