EJC:adg <br />4/8/77 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 77-44 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA STATING AND DECLARING <br />THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS OF THE GENERAL <br />MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON A~RIL 5, 1977. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Santa Aha, <br />by Ordinance NS-1346, duly called for and provided for the <br />holding of a General Municipal Election on April 5, 1977, to <br />fill vacancies in public offices; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Notice of said election, notice of nominees <br />for public office, and notice of the election officers and <br />polling places were regularly given in time, form and manner <br />as provided by law; the sample ballots, the statements sub- <br />mitted by the candidates for public office, and the arguments <br />submitted for and against the proposed Charter Amendment which <br />is set out in "Exhibit B" attached hereto and made a part <br />hereof, including the City Attorney's analysis, were regularly <br />mailed to all electors within the City; and said election on <br />said date was duly held at the polling places designated and <br />the votes cast thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof <br />made in the time, manner, and form provided by law; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on the 12th day of April, 1977, the City <br />Council of the City of Santa Ana has duly assembled at its <br />usual place of meeting, the returns of said election having <br />been canvassed by the Clerk of the Council pursuant to Reso- <br />lution No. 77-7. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana does hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows: <br /> <br /> That the General Municipal Election was duly held on <br />April 5, 1977, and the votes cast thereat were duly and regularly <br />canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time, form, and <br />manner required; that all things were regularly done as required <br />by law; that the absent voter ballots were duly canvassed and <br />counted as required by law, and the result of such count is <br />hereinafter set forth on Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a <br />part hereof; that the Clerk of the Council has duly canvassed <br />the returns of said election and from the said returns, it <br />appears, and the City Council finds, that the total number of <br />votes cast in each precinct for each person and the proposed <br />charter amendment, the number of votes cast in the City to each <br />person and the charter amendment, the whole number of votes <br />cast in the City, and the total number of absentee votes cast <br />in the City, are as set forth on Exhibit A attached hereto and <br />made a part hereof. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that at said General Municipal <br />Election Gordon Bricken, residing in Ward One, James Ward resid~ <br />ing in Ward 3, John Garthe residing in Ward 5, and Harry <br />Yamamoto residing in Ward 7, were elected to offices of Member <br />of the City Council for terms of four (4) years; and <br /> <br /> The Charter Amendment was adopted by a majority of the <br />electorate. <br /> <br /> <br />
