<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, permission was
<br />
<br />granted the Orange County Society for Crippled Children and Adults, Inc., to sell
<br />
<br />paper lapel Easter lilies ~.~rch 21st and 22nd, as a part of the 1958 Easter Seal
<br />
<br />Campaign.

<br />On motion of Councilman Could, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following
<br />
<br />communications were received and filed:

<br />From State Division of Hi~hways advising that the portion of State Highway Route
<br />182 in Orange County between the Santa Ana Freeway (Route 174) and the Route 43
<br />Freeway was redesignated as Route 179,
<br />From State Division of Highways advising that the portion of State Highway Route 2
<br />in Orange County between Route 174 and Route 176, was redesignated as Route 19,
<br />Resolution of the City of Seal Beach calling for metropolitan area recognition of
<br />Orange County by the Federal Government,
<br />From the Executive Office of t2ue President, Bureau of the Budget, advising that
<br />action on recommendation of the City Council calling for metropolitan area
<br />recognition of Orange County, may be expected early this year, and
<br />Application of the Public Utilities Commission for an investigation on the Commis-
<br />sions's own motion for the purpose of establishing a list of railroad grade cross-
<br />ings of city streets or county roads most urgently in need of separation, as con-
<br />templated by Section 189 of the Streets and Highx.~ays Code, as amended by Statutes
<br />1957.

<br />On motion of Councilm~n Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request Of J~hl

<br />M. Hoy was granted for an extension of one year's time for the recording of Final
<br />
<br />Map of Tract No. 1960, on property located on the easterly side of King Street,
<br />
<br />from Ninth to Tenth Streets, and consisting of approximately 6.64 acres, divided
<br />
<br />into twenty-eight lots.

<br />On motion of Cotuucilm~n Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication
<br />
<br />from Mr. and Mrs. J. G. 0'Brien was received and filed objecting to the conversion
<br />
<br />of Birch Park into an auto park.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Gould and carried, the copy of commnni
<br />
<br />cation of the Chamber of Commerce to C.M.Featherly, Supervisor District No. 1,
<br />
<br />recommending the appointment of Bob Fernandez on the Airport Commission and copy
<br />
<br />of Resolution endorsing the establishment of an Airport Commission, were received
<br />
<br />and filed. It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried,
<br />
<br />that the Council endorse the recommendation of the appointment of Bob Fernandez on
<br />
<br />the Airport Co~mnission, to represent Supervisorial District No. 1.

<br />were authorized to execute contract with Everett E. Parks and Paul O. Davis, for
<br />
<br />architectural services to design the new Fire Station to be located in the south-
<br />
<br />west part of the City.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, that action be
<br />
<br />continued until the next meeting on request of the Department of Public Works for
<br />
<br />approval of plans and specifications for paving of East 17th Street and on Tustin
<br />
<br />Avenue, and authorizing the Purchasing Agent to advertise for bids.
