CM/k 7-5-77 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 77- 69 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA HONORING MAURICE GLADMAN UPON HIS <br />ELECTION TO PRESIDENT OF KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN was born in Winnipeg, Canada, <br />and educated at the University of Southern California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN is married to Rosabelle St. <br />Clair Gladman and they have two children, Dennis and Patricia <br />Ann; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN owned a tire business in Orange <br />County for 19 years and is presently serving as Executive Director <br />of Southern California Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association <br />as well as Chairman of the Board of American State Bank; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN has been active in the spiritual <br />affairs of the community as a member, elder, choir member, <br />soloist and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tustin <br />Presbyterian Church; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN has provided leadership and <br />guidance in the community by serving the following organizations: <br />Santa Aha Chamber of ConFaerce, Santa Ana-Tustin YMCA, Salvation <br />Army Advisory Board, St. Josephs Hospital Foundation Board, <br />Boy Scouts Advisory Board, Board of Governors of Chapman College, <br />Civic Center Joint Powers Authority of Orange County, as well <br />as several fund drives and Mayor's Prayer Breakfast; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN has been honored by his community <br />for his outstanding service with the following awards: the <br />YMCA Service to Youth, the Boy Scouts of America Order of Merit, <br />the Salvation Army Heart to God, Hand to Man, the Santa Ana <br />Chamber of Commerce Golden City Citation, Kiwanian of the Year, <br />U.S. Tire Dealer of the Year, and Special Commendations from <br />the City of Santa Ana and the County of Orange; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN served his country in China, <br />Burma, and India during World War II, and in the Korean Conflict; <br />retiring as Colonel of the U.S. Army Reserve after receiving <br />the Bronze Star Medal and Legion of Merit Awards; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MAURICE GLADMAN was recently elected President <br />of Kiwanis International after serving the organization as: <br />president of the Santa Aha Club in 1959, lieutenant governor <br />of Division IV in 1962, governor of the California-Nevada-Hawaii <br />District in 1967, and trustee, vice-president and treasurer <br />of the International Board. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Mayor and Council of the City <br />of Santa Ana, do hereby resolve that MAURICE GLADMAN is to be <br /> <br /> <br />
