RESOLUTION NO. 77-112 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />WHEREAS, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />NOW, <br /> <br />MR. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING <br />COURTNEY CHANDLER FOR HIS COMMUNITY SERVICE <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler was born and raised in Nebraska and moved <br />to California at the age of 19; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler made Santa Ana his home in 1922, when its <br />population numbered 25,000; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler began his civic involvement in Santa Ana <br />as a member of the Forestry Commission, now called the Park <br />and Recreation Board; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler served as a member of the Board of Directors <br />of the Orange County Water District from 1953 to 1977; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler has always been interested in civic service <br />and demonstrated his great concern for the welfare of his <br />community by serving on 12 Boards and Commissions at one time; <br />and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler is an honored member of the Lions Inter- <br />national which has served Santa An a for over 20 years; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler has demonstrated his religious commitment <br />a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Aha for <br />over S0 years; and <br /> <br />as <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler has also served his fellow man through <br />service in the Masons in Santa Aha; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler was first elected to the City Council <br />in 1946 and represented the citizens of Santa Ana as a <br />Councilman and Mayor for 10 years; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler has demonstrated that the family unit is <br />the central heart of a strong, rewarding and fulfilling life <br />and he enjoys the honor of being the great grandfather of <br />two children; and <br /> <br />Courtney Chandler has demonstrated his strong commitment <br />to community service and has been a dynamic participant in <br />the communal welfare and material development of the City <br />of Santa Ana for the past 40 years; <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA: <br /> <br />That Courtney Chandler is to be lauded and extolled for <br />his splendid quality of dedicated community service and <br />honored for his religious and family commitment, providing <br />an exemplary standard for others to emulate. The City of <br />Santa Aha is proud and grateful to have had Courtney <br />Chandler as a community leader, board member, commission <br />member, Councilman, Mayor and dedicated citizen for over <br />40 years. Presented upon his retirement from the Orange <br />County Water District Board of Directors, October 5, 1977. <br /> <br /> <br />
