EJC:adg <br />2/23/78 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 78-24 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING MR. EDWARD F. <br />COLBURN FOR HIS COMMUNITY SERVICE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Edward F. Colburn joined the staff of the American <br />National Red Cross in January of 1943 to work with <br />Service to the Armed Forces; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />from 1943 to 1950 he served at many military installa- <br />tions in the Western United States, including Camp <br />Stoneman and the San Francisco Bay area as well as <br />with a joint Army/Navy maneuver from the West Coast <br />to Hawaii and back; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />from 1950 to 1951 he served with the Second Infantry <br />Division in Korea; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />from 1952 to 1960 he served with Western Area Office <br />in San Francisco, Montana and Los Angeles as a field <br />representative and as Western Area Assistant Director <br />of Service to Military Installations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />from 1960 to 1966 he served as manager of the San <br />Bernardino Red Cross Chapter; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />from 1966 to the present he has served as manager of <br />the Orange County Red Cross Chapter, guiding the merger <br />of several independent chapters to a str0r~countywide <br />organization serving all residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />throughout a long and successful career, he has <br />exemplified the attributes of humanitarianism, concern <br />for his fellow man and an abiding interest in the <br />improvement of the quality of life for all; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA: <br /> <br />That Edward F. Colburn, on the occasion of his retire- <br />ment on March 31, 1978, is to be lauded and extolled <br />for his splendid quality of dedicated community <br />service for 35 years in the Red Cross service, provid- <br />ing an exemplary standard for others to emulate. The <br />City of Santa Ana is proud and grateful to have had <br />Edward F.
