RCS:adg
6/28/78

RESOLUTION NO. 78-87

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANAAMENDING THE LAND USE
AND ARTERIAL STREETS SECTION OF THE GENEPJ~L
PLAN BY REDESIGNATING PROPERTY LOCATED AT
THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF SEVENTEENTH STREET AND
GRAND AVENUE FROM PROFESSIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
OFFICES TO COMMUNITY SHOPPING CENTERS/SPECIAL
STUDY CORRIDOR. GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT 1978-3.

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at its regular
meeting held on June 12, 1978, following public hearing
noticed and held in the manner prescribed in S 27-16 of the
Santa Ana Municipal Code, has approved and recommended to
this Council an amendment to the Land Use and Arterial Streets
section of the General Plan of the City of Santa Ana as
hereinafter set forth, and

WHEREAS, this Council, on July 1t, 1978, has held
a public hearing duly noticed in accordance with S 27-17
S.A.M.C., and, based on such hearing and the evidence presented
therein, does now find the said amendment, as recommended by
the Planning Commission, to be in the public interest, and

WHEREAS, this Council, prior to taking this action,
has reviewed and considered the information contained in
Negative Declaration No. 78-68 for the subject project and
on the basis thereof, finds that the project will not have a
significant effect upon the environment,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:

1. That the Land Use and Arterial Streets section
of the General Plan of the City of Santa Ana is hereby amended
by redesignating a parcel of real property containing approxi-
mately 3.7 acres and located at the Southwest corner of Seven-
teenth Street and Grand Avenue, and specifically described on
"Exhibit A," attached hereto and incorporated by reference
herein, from Professional and Administrative Offices to Com-
munity Shopping Centers/Special Study Corridor, in accordance
with that certain document entitled "Exhibit GPA 78-3," on file
with the Clerk of the Council.

2. That the following findings are hereby made:

a. Redesignation of the subject property to
Community Shopping Centers/Special Study Corridor will allow
for development of a new retail shopping center which will pro-
vide needed shopping center facilities and which is in keeping
with the general plan designation for the surrounding area.
General Plan Amendment 1978-3 would, therefore, insure that
the entire area develops in a uniform manner, rather than with
mixed and conflicting land uses.
